Seems like a strange time. If the plan is to have lots of folks at Gameday, wouldn't it make sense to open the parking lots at say 8am?

There is only so much staff, actual human beings, on hand to man these things and the program has had to move heaven & earth to get things ready for the game being at 8pm, ESPN College Gameday, etc. This has been discussed to death on 93.9 today (I'm not assuming you heard it, as I have the luxury of listening to IHR all day at my desk). When the fanbase starts tailgating en masse on Fridays like Clemson, and doing it regularly (even for the Kent State type games) like Clemson, then the staffing will be increased to handle it. But the on-hand staff as it exists today isn't capable of such a long day and that isn't going to be changed in a week's notice.

If they just swung the gates open at 8am without having properly staffed it, the lot would be a disaster and it'd be Monday before you got out of there.

I find it hard to believe that somewhere under the seat cushions in the athletic complex they can't find some spare change to pay Andy Frain Security to man the parking lot. Sorry but when the opportunity is there then they need to take full advantage.

I don't know man. Maybe everything they were saying on the radio was BS. They did say they had talked to folks" very high up in the organization" and they have had to move heaven and earth with this game being moved to 8pm and all that comes with that in a week's notice. It was alluded to that the fans were thrown some acknowledgement with the change from 3pm to 2pm for the gates, and people having 5 more hours to get hammered is just way down the priority list. These aren't my words, these are the words of folks from high up within the program via the hosts on 93.9.

I don't dispute what they are saying. I just think its a bad decision. It doesn't make sense to not open the lots when Gameday starts.

You serious Clark? Glad I was lurking on yalls site or I would have showed up ready to park and start tailgating at 10 am like a normal person. What am I suppose to do all day? Not trying to talk smack but y'all gotta get better at tailgating. Gates don't open until 2 pm for the biggest home game of the year?? This baffles me.

You are preaching to the Choir.

We can't control the parking situation any more than you can control CU piping your crowd noise through the PA. ;);):p

The difference is, we'd change our situation if we could.:D

Well, first, I could care less what time the gates are opened. Second, the comparison between CU and UofL's situation is totally different. We are an urban campus with a somewhat limited area in which our fans can "tailgate". Whereas, schools like Clemson have an entire town that is willing to participate in the tailgaters pleasure. There are places that will be available such as the fairgrounds and Boy Scout lot, etc., but not the UofL owned parking until 2 p.m. I say go ahead and open the lots. But if when I get there somewhere around 6:30 pm my spot had better be open or there will be a towed vehicle. I pay for my spot as much as the next guy and I have a right to expect my spot to be open. Yeah, I used to tailgate and party but I don't have any real interest in doing that any longer and that doesn't make me a party pooper. This situation used to be different but then we got the assigned spots. I was in favor of this move but many of you weren't because you wanted to "spread" out for your party.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Haven't heard that conspiracy theory haha. Don't tell the NCAA please, seems like an awesome advantage.

But seriously those of you who are part of yalls booster club and buy season tickets/ parking need to get vocal. if a little podunk town in the middle of no where South Carolina can handle 100k+ people coming to town 7 days a year, certainly a city like Louisville can. I mean y'all host the Kentucky derby. Obviously y'all have the resources.

Here is the difference. Unlike Clemson SC, we will have numerous events happening in Louisville Saturday and Saturday night.

There are two very large community festivals, a top R&B artist (from Louisville no less) having a concert at the YUM!, plus other miscellaneous activities happening in Louisville Saturday and night.

As big as this game is, it's not the ONLY show in town. Our resources are spread out.

Yea I get that, but that can be said about any college in a "city". You think the people in Columbus would be ok with this excuse? I highly doubt it. Football just isn't inthralled in Louisville tradition yet. Give it time, yalls success on the field will change that.

Actually, it's because we are so good at tailgating they are limiting the time available to do it. Louisville is a party town. If the lots opened in the morning, inside PJCS would be like a mosh pit at Burning Man come game time.

I've had season tickets since the stadium was built and the neglect the university has provided to the tailgating experience since moving away from the fairgrounds is the very reason I don't and won't ever buy a universtiy affiliated parking pass. This is nothing short of a JV move, and has been for 19 years now.

This reminds me of tailgating in Chestnut Hill at a Boston College game
Keep thinking that, trust me that's not the team you guys will be playing.
All of the other lots will be filled long before that. Most of our parking isn't controlled by the University.

Read post #2 above for why. I pay a tribute to you there as well. You gotta remember, 20 years ago the Cards were sharing a minor league baseball stadium with the local AAA team.

Again, see post #2. Give it time.

You might be able to find a private lot and start earlier? Not a whole lot of space for that though. PJCS is in the middle of the city, surrounded by an international airport, Churchill Downs (which I believe has racing tomorrow), Freedom Hall, Kentucky Kingdom (which used to be a Six Flags), and a water park.

Seriously? Last time I looked at that AD budget...wow!

Maybe noon when the GD activities ceased would've been a nice compromise?

As it stands, this is a **** move that makes no sense.
