Now I'm not getting political at all. But this week did get me thinking about how this NIL will work as time goes on.

Wealthy donors have always given, but they did not have to give as much and there were things like getting their name on a building and such. Capital campaigns. But NIL is different. It's not like the fixed revenue from TV companies or even tax revenue from the government. What happens in harsh economic times? What happens when donors/fans stop spending as much because they're not getting bang for their buck?

The economy for wealthier people has been strong for a good while now. Even with the 2008-2009 recession, it seems like those type of donors kept giving. But they didn't have to fully fund rosters. But since that recession, the stock market just keeps growing and growing. The wealthier fans and even retired folks just have money to throw. But I do wonder what happens in the next recession. Because income for those people won't be so large, so they won't necessarily have as much "F*** You" money and I could see a thing like NIL donations dropping. Not to mention how the average fan is already hurting with cost of living with inflation and combined with tickets, parking, concessions going to regular games.

I do see the NIL bubble popping sometime soon. Right now it's new and rich people have money to spend. This isn't just a Louisville thing, this is going to be a national thing.
