Here's the image of the plans we've been given. The BIG change is the addition of the fan zone there on the closest corner of the lot on the far side of Central. The fan zone will include:
  • Videos screens showing other games
  • Miniature fields for kids and stuff to play on
  • A stage for musical acts
  • Separated areas for just adults
  • Alcohol sales
The goal is for that fan area to be hopping before games when the team is dropped off at the top of Central for Card March. This has the enthusiastic support of Scott Satterfield who desperately wants to build a traditional gameday experience.

The BIG change however is to parking. The purple lot will have two major changes:
  • The lot will be general admission.
  • The lot will be "speed parking". That is, you will be waved right in to the next available spot and won't be choosing your spots. If you've been to any NFL stadium, they all do this.
The goal is to:
  • Avoid the annoying situation of people trying to pull into their spots like while others are already parked and throwing football and tailgating.
  • Avoid bottlenecking as cars slowly maneuver in. I can say firsthand, this works.
  • Get more people to leave the fan zone and enter by going through the tunnel and not use that corner gate where far too many people enter.
There are plans to run a tram along the inside of the purple lot that will constantly shuttle people parked in the farther lots up to the front and run in a circuit. As for the fan zone itself, last week I linked to the Bevo Boulevard at Texas and Cougar Canyon at BYU as examples. It should be great.

Fire away with the questions you have.
