UNC x2. 1-2 against the Tar Heels and both losses were in the state of North Carolina.

I think what bothers me more than the losses is where they occurred regarding UK, Duke, NC State, and Notre Dame. All 4 losses were HOME losses. Flip those around, and the team is 28-4 even with an opening loss in the ACC tourney and we're on the 1 line. I know the competition was strong in those games, but we were at home and played poorly in 3 of the 4 losses. The Cards didn't really play badly in the Notre Dame game. They just got beat by a better offensive basketball team in that one.

Excuses are over though. Now it's win and advance or lose and go home. Each game is an elimination game for everyone now.

I truly believe that the only way to improve is to play the best.....being tested is real.....passing the tests are what is needed now.....no more fooling around......sh-t or get off the pot.

Cards need to fly into the big stage and spread their wings....display the knowledge of lessons learned and now school the opponents with that knowledge........we all have heard the expression "Knowledge is Power'.....well, unleash the Power of the Beast, 'Montrez', 'Rozier' and 'Blackshear' must be that 3 headed beast that smotes its opponents and shows no mercy.

We've played some great competition and played them well. We have nothing to be embarrassed about.

That being said, I think Northern Iowa is going to be a really tough matchup (I'm obviously assuming we beat CS-Irvine - which I shouldn't). Of course we can beat them but every game, we have to bring our A game.

I know I'm not telling anyone hear what they don't already know.

I do think we are being 'discounted' by the mass sports media. But that might be a good thing.

I'd love to have a shot at Villanova.

I lot has to do with luck. We have probably as good a seed as we could have hoped for. I really worry about depth. I know we talk about shooting, but in terms of numbers we simply aren't getting the extra trips due to steals and the difference in turnovers. I think that having a Ware or Chris would make all of the difference in the world. It seems we've always had some defensive quickness off the bench at guard. Also we are giving up more easy baskets when we press. We just can't be a real Louisville teams without an effective press.

Good post, Briggs.
We should be able to beat the UCI BugBiters, but if we don't it'll likely be from exhaustion. They use nine player regularly while we really only have seven.

We have had a long lay-off to improve on our weaknesses. We are not 'burnt out' from playing every day last week. We have played VERY well at times recently. We love to be the underdogs. We have a GREAT coach. We have some really good players. We could win it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see that being an issue this time of year. Especially with not having to play but one ACC tournament game. There are so many TV timeouts and so much game stoppage during the tournament, you could play 5 players and they not really get tired. It drove me crazy the last few years, when UL had very deep teams, to play a minute and a half and go to a timeout. Especially against uk in Indy last year! And the timeouts seem like they last 7 or 8 minutes. I think the most game time you will see at once in the tournament is about 3 minutes and that's rare. You used to have an advantage having a very deep team. You could wear teams down and finish them in the last 5 minutes. TV has killed that. Being deep can help during the regular season. But depth goes out the window these days in the tournament.

1569 - I think you have that right.

Depth matters much much less in the tournament. But shooting (against zones and at the line) and '5' - play matter greatly.

Posted this before the tournament started. Only Virginia has been knocked out. The rest of the eligible teams are in the sweet 16.

What a schedule we have played.
