OK volleyball experts

We are playing a team which to describe them as tall would be an understatement. Dana Rettke is an experienced grad, a four-time All-American, and 6' 8"*'' tall. She leads Wisconsin in kills by a big margin. Rettke is not the only tall player on Wisconsin's team. To be fair, however, the other players who have good kill numbers are normal in size, i.e., 6'2" or 6'3".

My question is how can the Cards handle the difference in size? Perhaps the Purdue films who beat Wisconsin twice with a roster very similar to the Cards in size might give some ideas.

With the way Anna DeBeers and Claire Chaussee attack we should be good. They both hit sideways along the net instead of trying to go right at the blockers.

You try and keep them "out of system" as well so the love to and defensive setter can't feed the bigs easily.

I've got an inquiry. Dani is the HC and obviously has done a tremendous job. Watching recent matches, she doesn't appear to be very active on the sidelines. Associate HC Meske does all the strategy sessions during TO's. Dani looks to just nod and agree. UW's coach looked heavily involved on the other hand. I admittedly do not know or follow the sport very well. I guess different coaches have different styles. It's just something I noticed. It was a special season. If UofL can have that kind of success in VB without staggeringly tall killers like UW, then I'd love to see what the Cards can do with some height. Our star players are 5'11, 6'0, and 6'2.

Dani has a very calm demeanor and the players seem to love that. You rarely see her raise her voice. The statements made by Anna and Tori following the game about the atmosphere around the team should make us very pleased with the coaching staff and others. Make no mistake about it, however, this was her team and she was in charge. I was extremely pleased to see that the athletic department did not hesitate or delay giving her a new contract.

Claire C is also a Sr. I’ve been looking around to see if I could fine anything about their next class without success. I’m sure they have players waiting in the wings ready to go.
