12.5 sec timeout execution - pathetic

Our Bigs - lack of physicality a joke

5th year seniors - while we can't do without them today they forced things and did not deliver down the stretch. Lewis went the last 28 or so minutes of the game and scored THREE points. That doesn't cut it! Frustrating, I think we're better. Hope to get a shot during the NCAA on a neutral floor.

I will never understand why at the end of the game Louisville doesn't attack the basket. This game doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. They didn't quit and made multiple comebacks so hard to be really upset with the outcome. It is really hard to avoid their big runs at home. They only really had one that Louisville couldn't match which was the game.

No way we should have loss to this team today

Why because Louisville has a better players? There is a reason they very rarely lose at home. Losing sucks, but they hit 50 percent from 3 and they shot a bunch. How many teams keep that game in that environment under 10. They have to clean up their defense against good teams if that happens then Louisville will be just fine.

Yea...keep it up with the rupp arena excuse. The game was called in our favor if anything but if excuses make the loss easier on you then I can understand.

Who is making excuses? It is a tough place to play and they play good there. You have to play really good to beat them at Rupp. FYI I never mentioned refs you did. This game came down to a 6 minute span that cost them the game. Teams can survive that against bad teams not against good teams.

Keep telling yourself that man. Rick can't beat Uk no matter what court they play on. Not the yum, rupp, lucas oil stadium or the superdome in new Orleans.

We are playing on the road; and one of the absolute worst 3 point shooting teams in the nation shoots a bunch of 3s and hits basically half of them, with players hitting them that rarely ever do so in other games. Yet we loses by 2, with a chance to win at the end. UL is the better team.

OH I can give you a million other reasons for a change going forward but that would derail the thread so I'm going to leave it alone.
Humor us...let's just hear a couple. Won't derail us too much.

Ok zipp, please tell us. We have a better coach, better players, better fans, better facility, better AD, better school, etc. Why can't we win?

We have a better game coach, but that's the only advantage that matters. Better AD, school, facilities--that stuff is irrelevant even if true.

More than offsetting the coaching advantage, however, are factors in LPT's favor... Consistently better talent, and in most years with Pitino Lite, significantly so. "Better fans" is not the right descriptor, but fans who want it more is. Find me an LPT fan who says his school is anything but a basketball school...you can't. But you'll have no trouble finding U of L fans who say otherwise.

And look how their guys play, always someone having the game of his career. That's because of how much emphasis they put on winning this game. As their coach says, Super Bowl. Easy to understand too. They don't play that many good schools. Hell, they talk up Ohio State and Arizona State like they're good competition.

Our fans don't spew that garbage, our guys aren't coached that way, and it shows in the results. Nor do I want our fans and players acting crazy about this game. It's just an early season OOC game against a decent opponent. If you wanna make it more than that, that's on you.

Well, no. You guys just don't play anybody in the non-conference. MSU and us. OK.
For our terrible schedule, we've played (and now beaten) two teams from the mighty ACC.
You're going to sit here and tout your conference schedule--but we've beaten good teams from your conference. So, either we in fact HAVE played some good teams--or your conference schedule being so tough is false.

Why can't Louisville win this game?

1) Talent, there is no denying they have always had a talent advantage. Dismissing that talent is common in every fan base. They are perceived as not very talented because they lost to Ohio State. Ullis, AP, and Murray are all NBA players. Louisvile has 1 in Lee (who is a hell of a college player)...maybe. People look at Ullis shooting percentage at 28 percent, he is a much better shooter than that which he showed.

There is a reason college basketball recruiting is dirty, talent wins many games alone and gives anyone a real shot at anyone in March.

2) Fanbase/Motivation call it whatever you want I think they are insane. Zipp is right losing to Louisville is not an option. They understand their fan base and play at a different level in that game. They understand what losing to Louisville would mean for the rest of the year. The majority of the Louisville fan base understands that Louisville is fighting an uphill battle talent wise, we just want our players to play hard and be competitive. As long as they do well in March this game doesn't matter. I know I have other Louisvile sports I can transition into. UK fans have nothing else to transition to, it is all or nothing.

Talent, in some years it hasn't even been close, with motivation equals a really tough team on that day. I agree this year talent wise it is as close as it ever has been and a good opportunity. Think about it they hit 11 threes plus had a 22-2 run and Louisville lost by 2. How many teams could have kept it that close while not playing great? Louisville will be fine.

Yeah the Cats hit threes but how many times did Murray cough up the rock? Kentucky blew a double digit lead, I don't think we played our best game at all. Ulis was awesome though, as was as your kid Lee.

The kids from both teams played hard and it was entertaining.

I don't think our bigs lack a physicality, while Nanu was in, he was a beast. I thought Jaylen looked decent on Offense, Matz played pretty good for his level of talent. The last play was a joke, Nanu had his man sealed. Would have been the high percentage.

We need a better balance in there that Lewis and Lee don't have to force during crunch time.

In a nutshell the Cards gave up too many early offensive rebounds (see first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of the 1st half). Gave up way too many easy baskets (completely blown and missed defensive assignments in both the 1st and 2nd half). Spaulding practically handed the ball to UK on multiple inbound attempts.

The Cats shot 50% from 3 yesterday on the season have shot 29%. Hawkins played the best game of his career.

Bad and several missed calls but the refs were not the reason for the loss yesterday. The Cards should have never been down 16 to this UK team.

The Cards can score. If they can learn to play better defense, they have the potential to make a really deep run.

The potential for this team is unreal. Most cannot see that and are frustrated about losing to a rival.

Well, if you are looking for excuses just imagine what that would be for KY if UL had won the game. No Briscoe. Undoubtedly, he is playing as one of the stars on the team.

Cards didn't have Mangok. Not a starter yet not much of a dropoff from Chinanu.
Adel started 3 games then hurt his knee. Just got back. Very rusty.

Had UofL won the uofk fans would have complained about refs like they do after
every loss.

Hawkins was a good player and sometimes it still shows. I remember thinking that wow UL is just letting him shoot on occasion showing no effort at all to guard him.

That's known as good game planning and the players reading a scouting report. Why would anyone with a clue guard a guy shooting 11% from three-point range?

The only thing that plan overlooked was a blind squirrel stumbling onto an acorn.

Hawkins was making 24% 3's for the prior entire season, which would indicate that he had a strong opportunity to increase his percentage of 11% over this season, since only a few games had been played versus the entire season to compare. UL lost by 2, one more guarded 3 on Hawkins may have made the difference in a win/loss. Certainly, players can get hot and cold during a single game but that is where in-game adjustments should be made.

If they say Russ Smith is too small for the NBA Ulis doesn't stand a chance, Plus he is not better than Russ whatsoever. Alex another over valued Uk player that will get drafted only because of that WWW/Cal crap. Just like Tegeague,Doron the twins and slew of other drafted and not worth the guys no one ever seems to want to talk about UK players. But that's a mute subject cause Rick doesn't or can't get ready made talent can't sugar coat that.
And i'm sick of losing this game.

"Probability has no memory." I don't expect a slapd!ck to know what that means. But google it and try to figure out how that applies here.

Well, you can always try to insult others as would be par for the course for you.

Only the specific time period you gave showed that Hawkins was an 11% shooter. Now, it is over 30% on this year.
The point I would add is that if you are going to say the player shot 11% and claim to not guard him because of that then you
need to know what conditions gave those stats: that is, the level of defense (high, med, or low), the location on the court
the shot was taken, and on and on. If UL played the same level of defense that led to the stats you gave, then maybe the result would be the same. Playing NO defense was probably never the case that resulted in any stat.

It's not my fault when an LPT fan doesn't understand something simple. How do you know what's "par" for me?

There are only two good reasons why the kid WAS shooting 11%... He fundamentally couldn't shoot, or that he was taking bad shots. If he was taking bad shots and your coach was playing him Saturday, logically, he was being played anyway and allowed to take bad shots.

Nowhere in there is a compelling reason to come out and guard the kid, and for sure not to shade your defense in his direction. And a blind squirrel found a nut on the same day that other LPT kids started draining them from 25 feet.

What we witnessed was a blind squirrel convention.

It doesn't matter much. Just responding to super bowl slapd!cks whose season is now on the downhill slide.

Time to watch everyone else play basketball.

Yeah we usually slide all the way down to the last week of the season.

But you're right the game doesn't matter. The players and coaches don't care, the media doesn't even pay attention, the fans don't watch. Just a meaningless game. No rivalry to see here. After it's over nobody even posts about on message boards. Riiiiiight
