You have to think Auburn has to look at the Georgia game from last year and realize that running the ball down Louisville's throat is the way to beat the Cards, right? Nick Chubb's performance in that game was nothing short of amazing and very alarming for the Cards.

In 2014, Auburn had the #13 ranked rushing offense averaging 256 yards per game. Which was surprising considering UofL's rushing defense was ranked 10th only giving up 109 ypg. So what happened?

How does Louisville not allow Auburn to do what Georgia did?

UGA did that to a lot of teams.

The Louisville offense didn't do a lot to help the Louisville defense out.

There's also a bottom line. UGA was a lot better football team. They were a top 10 team, we weren't. There are games where they just man up and destroy people.

We had a shaky offense all year. QB play was not good enough. Gardner was accurate but he put the ball on the ground too much. Reggie added another element but was inaccurate. Didn't see enough of Bolin but he was up and down.

We need to do better against the run but I think our offense will need a few clock controlling drives to give the D a better chance. We're supposed to have a good front 7, but we can't set them up to fail with a #' of quick drive/punts and or short fields.

Hopgood, Louisville also had 3 QB's sharing duties throughout the year, with little or NO game experience at all. UGa had a seasoned team and more stability with outstanding talent. CBP also did not have his total packages in either and had to dial it back because of that Qb inexperience!

I totally agree. And what that adds up to is, a couple tough outcomes in ball games - like the UGA game. They had a dominant offensive line, ours wasn't good enough. If you recall, they were on a reserve Qb as well, I think?

I love where we are. Replacing countless draft picks and still appear to be fielding a quite competitive team.

Georgias offensive line absolutely dominated, they only lose center David Andrews to the draft. Georgia will win the SEC East easily this year. We had not been manhandled like that up front all year.

What strikes me about that clip is the missed tackles, the reversion by dbs and lbs to tackling high.Chub, like Todd Gurley before him does not go down with ease, and that line just gets the surge no matter who's running.

That might account for later parts in the game, with the defense on the field a lot,but it doesn't account for the early stages. There didn't look to be a chip on anybody's shoulder, unlike the Florida game.

Play every snap like you've got something to prove.

That offensive line is a big reason some like their chances to complete the job this season in the SEC.

Georgia was that good. They tend to always have a couple of games where they just suck. That wasn't the case that night. Chubb is really good and their O-Line was really good. Add in a poor offensive performance with a bunch of 3 and outs then you have tired D-line. Plus with Grantham being the D coordinator for Georgia that had to help Georgia's preparation for Louisville schemes and concepts.

I doubt Auburns offensive line is as good as Georgia with that said if the Louisville offense has that kind of night again then it will be an ugly game especially late.

Our rushing Defense wasn't really the problem. We held up well for a couple of quarters. Our problem last year was the offense was really bad, on QB number 3. We couldn't move the ball and give our defense a rest. Nobody can leave their defense on the field that long and survive. If our offense was at least mediocre we would have been alright.

Put it this way, a Petrino offense wasn't even ranked in the top 50. That's how bad it was.

According to the graphic, Chubb only had 40 yards in that game midway thru the 2nd quarter.

U of L does much offensively, and things could have turned out much differently for Chubb and UGA. Defense often plays in proportion to the offense...

Agreed, our defense did everything we could realistically ask of them. When you look at all the 3 & outs and the resulting field position that our offense continuously gave them, you can't expect a team like UGA to not at some point take advantage. Using Chubb, an elite RB, over & over in those repeated scenarios, wore the defense down.

Yep...the UGA offense was out there a whole lot more than you can really have them be out there when you've got a back like Chubb.

We had 3rd string QB play and it looked like 3rd string QB play on that day. The rest was inevitable.

This is how bad the offense was/how good the UGA defense was in the bowl:

21 of 44 passing (47.7%) - horrible
314 yards - looks decent, but with 44 attempts this is expected so let's say this is decent
1 TD - bad, 44 attempts?
3 INT - horrible
5 sacks

Rushing - only 62 yards out of 27 attempts. By comparison, UGA had 53 attempts (!!!) and had like 5,000 yards.

No wonder the defense wore down in the 2nd half! I was sitting at home and I had Chubb Rubb; I can only imagine how the defense felt.

The offense gave the defense NO help. All the UGA posters with their "Told you so" posts about Grantham's defense did not watch the game or don't understand football. That defense of ours did all it could. Look above, we see what our offense gave to them!

Good stat zipp.I didn't realize most of that came late.
