Glad this coaching search is about to be put to bed. Finally I won’t have to worry if my phone is gonna die or not. I hope everyone gets onboard with coach and has reasonable expectations for next year.

I think the first order of business will be working the grad transfer wire to fill some holes: QB, TE, DL

So basically the roster sans a few. Yes we're gonna have a tough road rebuilding no matter who is named the new head football coach.

At this point I have no reservations against anyone. I just want a coach who can make us competitive again.

I think Coach Satt can build the program back up to championship level football. Not just smoke and mirrors. We gotta have patience next year though.
I think we'll need patience well beyond next year. This roster demands a three year rebuild. It will be interesting to see how many seats will be filled next year, in an almost certainly painful season.

The team has got no where to go but up. There's zero chance we'll see next year what we saw this year. But, man, yes, I am ready to move on. This coaching search has not been fun. If it's Satterfield, fine. He isn't the "sexy" hire, but I'll give him my full support until he shows he no longer deserves it.

let's just recruit O line and D line guys for a year and start building a foundation. would be nice to give the qb time to throw for once. and the opposing qb no time at all. either way, a new era starts today, bring it on!

Agreed on a few of the posts....it cant be any damn worse than this year. IMO, we had 10 or fewer players in our last 4-5 games that gave max effort. Ridiculous. Just effort alone makes you competitive in 4-5 games on next years schedule. Who knows and if we go 4-8 and see drastic improvement, we should be VERY content with that. This is a fullout rebuild.

I don't know that you can put those chances at zero, but I hope you're right. Start with a 2-10 abomination of a college football team. Lose some seniors, some malcontents, and almost certainly some transfers. Add a well below average and small signing class. What is it about that scenario that has you thinking next year will be better? I get that the culture may be better and that the new guy might get the team to buy in, but this is quite simply not going to be a talented college football team. He'll have to start killing it in recruiting with the class of 2020.

Van Gorder going away simply improves the defense 100%. We'll see better effort which will hopefully lead to better execution. This year wasn't just bad. It was historically bad. The Cards broke all the wrong records. No way they play close to that in '19.

Considering BVG made 250k more than he did in 2018, he can probably do whatever he is happy with. Have to think we are paying him in the 3-3.25 range.

I honestly don’t know how next year could NOT be better than this year. Just add effort and fewer penalties through discipline and we’ll be miles ahead. A decent coaching staff should be able to get that much. The next big decision will be how he staffs the rest of his coaches, then, as coach Mack said, start recruiting our guys, stop the transfers, hang on to some recruits then convince a few more to come here. Easy-peasy!!!

We do have a very tough schedule next year.

I agree that BVG was historically bad, and that a competent DC can make a huge difference, but I'll also point out the following:

D-Line--If it turns out to be true that Jon Greenard is leaving, there will not be a legitimate ACC starting defensive lineman on the roster, not one!
LB--A solid core to build on. CJ Avery, PJ Blue, and Dorian Etheridge have talent and ability. I also like Yasir Abdullah to be a stud down the road.
Safety--Tresean Smith is the only legit safety on the roster
CB--Rodjay Burns showed promise, but is not a lockdown kind of guy. The rest of the corners are warm bodies.
I don't care who the DC is, you can't field a solid defense with linebacker being the only place you have talent.

I don’t even care if if we are 2-9 next year as long as at least we our competitive and don’t get blown out by 50. Hell I would have to view that as a positive.
