Someone asked in an earlier thread; why we should expect a victory next year in Lexington?
Don't get me wrong...I am sick to my stomach after yesterday. More so, because it reaffirms my observation that karma doesn't exist. Stoops is a classless POS, and his team and the way they handle themselves is not a program I would be proud to support...not the BBN cares as long as they are winning. They are happy, regardless of a pretty pathetic season and a coach that has one foot out the door because they will be able to give us crap for another year. I think there is a less than 25% chance Stoops will be coaching at UK next year. The apparent reluctance to extend his contract and his cheap $4.5M buyout will have him on a lot of lists.
That said, we as fans need to keep some things in perspective as we feel like we are never going to rid ourselves of their arrogant stink and harassment while being forced to endure yet another year of crap from their fans:
1) Nobody feels more sick this morning than Jeff Brohm. No "ah shucks" take the day after. Brohm was reportedly lighting the team's asses on fire. Young people will rise to expectations and I have no doubt that the team moving forward will do so.
2) This year's offensive is in NO WAY a Jeff Brohm offense. Jeff and his staff was forced to make due and adapt to the talent available. Now the pressure is on for the staff to recruit the players they need to execute his offense in the offseason, but the team's success this year leaves me hopeful that will be a far easier sell than it was last recruiting season.
3) The NFL prospects were developed under the staff to that level. This shows a level a player development not present under the previous staff and should be helpful in recruiting the transfer portal. There is a demonstrable track record of success for players that transferred in.
4) Brohm has built a level of fan engagement that has been missing for years. New family traditions focused around fall football will be made under this staff after several years of waning fan engagement and apathy. Young people are the future lifeblood of any program, and I can speak for my teenagers who saw attending home games the past few years as and obligation, now are excited for gameday.
It sucks, but we need to keep the big picture in focus. The future is bright.
