U of L doesn't have the market cornered in smart recruiting and athletics administration. No one tries to spend more money instead of less. And I seriously doubt that "Vince" is smarter than most ADs. (I'll be somewhat happy if he turns out just average.)
I think folks are confusing the chicken and the egg. We don't spend money because we don't have it to spend, not because we're smarter than everyone else. It's not a choice, it's a requirement.
More with less was a PREVIOUS goal before you had a seat at the big boy table. Now you simply wanna be bigger, get more money. Efficiency is fine, but you're not going to save and chisel your way to success in major college athletics. As evidence, find me anyone who tracks that sorta statistic.
Of course he's posturing and doing what he knows best ("chisel"). But what should concern you is that "Vince" is totally oblivious to all of this. He's actually proud he's saving money instead of how much of it he's raising. That's a guy who doesn't know what's important...OR he's complicit in what the clown show wants.
