So, if Matt McMahon leads his #7 seed Murray State Racers to the Elite 8, would that change the minds of this fanbase?

That would require wins over San Francisco, UK, and most likely Purdue/Texas.

McMahon has been head coach at Murray State since 2015 and has the following record:

2016 OVC West Division co-Champion
2018 OVC Regular Season Champion and OVC Tournament Champ
2019 OVC Regular Season Champion and OVC Tournament Champ
2020 OVC Regular Season Champion
2022 OVC Regular Season Champion and OVC Tournament Champ (OVC Coach of the Year) 30-2 Record

Overall Record 153-66 (.699)

Also.....McMahon recruited and developed Ja Morant who's arguably pound for pound one one of the best players in the NBA.

I think we might have a star in the making in our own backyard and will be kicking ourselves if he ends up becoming the next Nate Oates.

Only 1 NCAAT win so far, but I'm definitely intrigued. Probably not a sexy enough name as of today 3/14/22 - unless he wins some games in the NCAAT which will mean he has to be UK. I've said all along, all the candidates except Payne are busy with March right now and their results in this tournament will matter.

If we strike out on the likes of Drew and Muss etc., then a young up and comer like McMahon might be the way to go.

My order of preference, from first to least
1. Muss
2. Drew
3. Payne

4. McMahon

5. Cronin

Anything after that, I'll hope for the best but I fear we'll have to get used to watching the tournament without Louisville being in it.
