Went back and watched Mac's preseason presser again. Mac makes it abundantly clear his vision of the program going forward remains developing players over a 3-4 year period while in the program. Went on to say that's what he's been doing for 30 plus years and it has worked out well. Said he would use the portal to plug a position here and there and that would be it. Not sure I am on board with this but also have to wonder if this is a money issue as well.

I don’t see a scenario where we are anywhere in universe near $EC NIL for baseball. Just what it is. Fans whine about paying for a baseball ticket. For the free games the stands rarely get filled.

I get what you are saying but the season starting in February doesn't help. Looking out my window, just north of Columbus, and we have 5 plus inches of snow on the ground. Just now letting up a bit.

Yeah, it's ridiculous the college baseball season starting in mid February. The northern schools are at a huge disadvantage.

I think Coach McDonnell has really no option other to keep doing it as he always has. Louisville just can't compete with NIL and the southern schools.

MLB has former Louisville players all over it, more than anytime in history. McDonnell needs to get that talent here again and the winning will return. It's definitely going to be harder, but I believe possible.

If he has to play free agent he's no longer a coach, but a manager.
