You are correct, ND did a much better job defending both Roberts and Curry on the perimeter, but there is no excuse for any half court offense when focused on getting a good open 3, when you have multiple candidates like Louisville. In truth, Jeff had the girls running the weave and setting multiple picks; there were numerous opportunities for Taj and Jada both to step back for a good look at a 3. Instead, the focus was driving into the paint where ND interior defense was too much to overcome.ND made some nice adjustments at half. They didn't let Roberts and Curry get any good looks from 3 and made Curry a driver, which isn't her strength. (she is shooting 28% on 2's in conference play)
I loved Randolph's play in the 2nd Q and hope she gets more playing time going forward, we need her athleticism on the court.
I expect Jeff to change his half court offensive strategy going forward and emphasize shooting more 3s, rather than driving inside the paint.
