Louisville vs Nebraska

Nebraska’s biggest strength is 3 point shooting they already have 2 within 3 minutes. I would hope we would extend our defense.

Lucky to be this close at the end of the first qtr. Minus a 3 by Russell, absolutely terrible shooting. Shots not bitting the rim, smacking off the backboard. Geez. They nee to settle down. I’d like to see Taj take a seat and just watch for a couple of minutes to settle down.

Isla is doing pretty well. I’d have her in there with Olivia later in the game. Jeff needs to sit Nyla down. She is giving the team nothing. Much rather see Hardy in the game. Taj starting to warm up a bit.

Keep in mind…Isla is as big as Neb’s center. Their center is a senior though and it shows. Elif can’t jump; but, she has out in some good work in the first half.

Up by 4 and we didn’t play well in the 1st quarter at all. I watched the TCU game before our game. That was the first time I have seen TCU play all year. They looked good but they only have 3 players that score. Who ever plays them next would have a good chance of beating them if they just shut down one of the 3.

Thank God we are rebounding well because once again we have gone into a scoring slump at the same time committing turnovers

This is pitiful effort plain and simple. I am so ticked off right now. Poor effort and poor execution. Standing around not getting loose balls and rebounds. Harris is so slow-footed. Her complaining on that last foul pushed me over the edge. Move your feet and play better defense and you won’t foul. She can transfer tomorrow!

Just said the same thing to my wife

We’ve jinxed her … since I said that, she’s missed a 3, a layup and lost her player on defense resulting in a 3 for Nebraska.

Reminds me of the old saying from Al McGuire: the best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores.”

Curry tried to play hero ball there… jump stop and pass to Merissah Russell for the wide open 3.

This is a horrifically terrible passing team. Olivia slipped down the lane several times and our guards just don’t‘t pass the ball.

Big mistake by Cochran she should have kicked it out and we would have had the last shot. That could of just cost us the game up by 1 and Nebraska has last shot not smart at all.

Walz just calls the winning plays. What a great design there to get Curry the ball on the out of bounds play.

Curry the number one free throw shooter in the ACC hits both Cards up by 3 with 21.9 left what are we going to do to screw up?

We escape and face TCU I hope we play a lot better and make it respectable. I hate to be negative but this team self destructs.
This team lacks hoops IQ. They just don't seem to learn from their many mistakes. Players like Cochran, Harris and Russell met their basketball skill limit years ago.

Just think of the many recent talented but intelligent players the Cards have had. I think this team has just one player like those and that's Roberts. The other freshmen need more playing time to fully judge their hoops IQ.

Walz needs the portal. I hope he can find smart and talented players who can make adjustments as the season goes.

I haven’t seen an all white team since the early 70’s obviously Nebraska is recruiting close to home.
I too was struck by seeing what might have been an all-white (mostly blonde) D1 women’s basketball team. The Cornhuskers were favored, and I give kudos to how Jeff improved this team with 9 true freshman. What was particularly impressive was how Isla and Elif were able to play early, and contribute after struggling in most of the regular season. There were times that I could not understand why Jeff played Elif so much, but it is evident that despite still “ having a ways to go”, she showed marked improvement. I will be interested in seeing who stays and goes.

Once again the NCAA committee went out of their way to get the HVL match-up with Jeff Walz and UL. TCU may be at a level with UConn and SC in terms of experienced talent, as HVL is not even close to being the best player on their roster.

I posted earlier that TCU only has 3 players that score. If you shutdown just one of those players you would shutdown a third of their offense. TCU vs Louisville matchup is obvious that pairings aren’t made using metrics. They are based on connections one team might have with another. Arkansas vs St. John’s is another example let’s do away with the corruption of the human element and feed everything into a computer and make it fair.
