Louisville @UCF

Crickets from central Fl.
please see my post under UCF Game thread. I had made no claims, no guarantees, no pregame taunts. And while I'd hoped things had gone better, these outcomes have come down to the wire in the last 3 games. I felt Syracuse won in a perfect storm, but knew Louisville would answer the bell and come out swinging in Orlando. Your Defense played like their hair was on fire in the 2nd half, and they refused to lose.

Malik Cunningham was at his elusive best. Props to him.

Your season is back on the rails now, while we have questions about our's. That's football. People who say, " don't take it so seriously-it's only a game, " just don't understand!

Geography doesn’t matter when your home state is Flordia. They will always get talent. They may miss initially but will probably kill the transfer portal.
Geography matters.

It's nearly a 5 hour plane flight from Orlando to Lubbock. Over 5 hours from Orlando to Stillwater. It's not an ideal situation. I understand they make this move for the $ but it does not figure to be a smooth transition on the field.

Combined with the uptick in SOS against a # of established programs and I believe they will struggle. Even KU is a problem in that league now.

WVU entered that league from their island as a program on the rise a decade ago. Now they are hot garbage behind even KU in the standings and will be hiring their 3rd coach since entering the league soon enough.

Just looking over UCF results when they travel, last year SMU blew them out in Dallas. In 2019 UCF took one of their better teams to Tulsa and lost. These are nice programs but not on B12 level even with the exit of OU/TX.

It's just a very tough task to force your program to travel across the country 4-5 times a year and somehow compete.

That portal you reference, they lost their high end QB to OU, everyone is talking about how crappy their QB is that they pulled from the portal, so I'm not sure why we think they are going to kill it in the portal either.

Either way, I'm glad these clowns get out of our lives with a few losses in a row to stick up their %@!

You are right in saying GEOGRAPHY MATTERS.

There is no comparing the high school talent in West Virginia to Florida. And this is where geography truly matters.

From 1991 to 2012 WVU had conference games against a school from Florida (Miami from 1991-2004 and South Florida from 2005 to 2012). They then moved to a Texas centric conference. And their decline began. Being unplugged from their stronghold in Florida is a huge reason why.

The Central Florida Golden Knights won't have to worry as much about the talent they bring on board. They're surrounded by it.

The travel issues will be challenging. But when you still have talent, you can still compete.

All of the new Big 12 teams will struggle even in the new watered down conference in my opinion. I personally don't see the move to the Big 12 helping drastically with recruiting and the extra money is nice but every school has amazing facilities. Plus the new Big 12 is going to lose ALL of its appeal once UT and Oklahoma leave. The perception of the Big 12 is going to nose dive to being regarded the worst P5 conference.

There's a massive difference between showing up to play Cincinnati, Temple and Memphis in back to back to back weeks than flying out to Oklahoma and playing OK State, KState, and Baylor 3 straight weekend.

I don't think its going to kill any of the programs but those 10-2 and 11-1 seasons are done. A "great" season for them or Cincy moving forward is going to be 8 wins IMO.

We're not talking about geography in the same way. That's fine, I understood what the other poster meant when he referenced good players in FLA. I get it. I'm talking about flying 3-5 hours multiple times a year against tougher competition. They get to go out to Boise their first year in the Big12 too. So they will be hitting those frequent flyer miles. I'm not saying mission impossible but I think they are an also ran in the Big12 at best.

We'll just agree to disagree. I think they are trending the wrong way. They lost by 4 TDs @ SMU last year. They lost the last time they played @ Tulsa a few years ago. They just lost to us on their home field and we are not not in great shape.

We don't know how the portal is going to treat these lower ring programs like UCF either, look @ what they have @ QB now compared to the guy they had last year that transferred out to OU. Now FSU might finally be getting their footing.

Fvck 'em !

Adding to that point - look at us. We’re in year 6? Of being in the P5 and we’ve been a mediocre to bad every year and I would say we’re a much bigger more prestigious athletics program that has an elite basketball program and one who’s athletic budget is double UCFs and one who even now during rough football seasons still generates nearly nearly 50% more revenue than UCF. Now UCF can sell Florida and they obviously have much, much better recruiting grounds but I don’t see them waltzing into even a severely weakened Big 12 and not hitting some serious growing pains.

Agree lots of variables. That SOS uptick is real. UCF is currently falling back on USF, Tulane, Memphis, Temple, Tulsa, Navy, ECU literally half their schedule if not more is just straight trash.

That B12 is weakened up top yes the exit of OU removes a loss for everyone. TX has been blah for a decade I get it when they are rolling they are elite but it's been a minute. But the league added some quality depth to a league that already did have a # of established programs, and some of these road trips are far away and very tough. Baylor just found out about visiting BYU. Etc, etc, etc.

Good game cards. Hope you give it to fsu next week. For those that travelled down sorry for the crappy weather but hopefully you had a good trip
Finally got back to our car right around midnight and for the first time ever in nearly 3 years we had ZERO traffic on I-4 and made it back to Tampa in record time.
