Ik a lot of people don’t care about track but Louisville’s men’s TF team was ranked 18th in the latest national poll. NC State and FSU were ranked above them.
To be fair the poll they’re ranked in is pretty inaccurate overall, sometimes there are hits, and sometimes there are misses. I looked at some of the results in the early season, and they’re not bad. We have really good field athletes, and a pretty good core of freshman and sophomore distance runners. The results I saw had a couple of them with 4:16 and 4:18 miles, which isn’t insanely impressive at that level, but for early in the season and running on an indoor track it’s pretty good. It’s also sophomores and freshman running these events so they should get reasonably better as the season progresses.
In the field events we have some dogs. We dominated the high jump at the latest meet, and will probably win some good points in the ACC. If your looking for a winter sport where we could have some success and will only get better I encourage people to check out a race if you get the chance.
