This year's Carousel seems to be spinning extra fast already, and it's a game the University of Louisville should want no part of.

Given all the uncertainty in the University and Athletic Department, Louisville should make absolutely sure its football coach is happy and secure.

And I'm not singling out Louisville, but any program with a winning coach should be having conversations thi time of year about making sure its coach is happy. Here's why...

Jim McElwain was let go at Florida.

Kevin Sumlin has been let go at Texas A&M.

Todd Graham was let go at Arizona State.

Butch Jones was let go at Tennessee.

Bret Bielema was let go at Arkansas.

Mike Riley was let go at Nebraska.

Gary Anderson was let go at Oregon State.

Jim Mora was let go at UCLA.

The Ole Miss job is open, too.

Each of those jobs is a competitive Power-5 program, willing to pay millions per year to some coach. When they make their hires, other programs have openings as well.

Back to Louisville. Louisville fans have already gone through two years of basketball drama, the suspension and then firing of Rick Pitino, the suspension and firing of Athletic Director Tom Jurich, a Board of Trustees overhaul and the firing of longtime President James Ramsey.

The current administration consists of a newly seated Board, an interim President and an interim Athletic Director. Given all the question marks around the program, now would not be the time for Louisville to have to search for a new football coach if some other program wanted to come take advantage of Louisville's uncertainty to lure Bobby Petrino away.

For the Interim Administration: Stability and continued improvement should be the goal of every conversation these next couple of weeks.
