If we prevail at VT on Tuesday, I expect that we will end up ranked ahead of UK given their regular season schedule versus ours. They host Auburn, and must go to Oklahoma and Missouri.
It is not impossible that UL could win out, and arrive at the ACC Tournament ranked in the top 15. The Committee says they value momentum, and UL clearly has that going in our favor.

In past years I would be inclined to agree with Rollem's post, and while his acknowledging sarcasm, its much closer to the truth than not. I believe there has been a pattern where somehow Lunardi has exhibited an unhealthy, and undeserving influence in ranking college basketball. Yes, there have been enough "St Peters upsets" to remove any doubt as to just how unaccountable Lunardi and his minions are when seeding "the so-called majors". However, this year maybe different, at least with respect to the SEC, as "even a broken clock is accurate twice a day".
Auburn, Florida and Alabama when healthy appear to be better than most any of the other teams right now, and TX A&M, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri are not too far behind when they are healthy. The NCAA selection process is designed to provide a significant advantage to those receiving the coveted four (4) each #1, #2, #3 and #4 seeds, and it should be evident that as it stands right now, the aforementioned seven (7) have a shot at claiming their share of the 16 openings.

This probably won't go over too well but I'm not as concerned as much about out ranking as much as our possible seeding. I'm not sure I want to be on the #5 line based on past history. I think I would be ok with the 6/11 matchup. We also need to be realistic in that by not playing strong competition we are rising in the polls simply because other teams are losing to better teams. Hopefully, we get another shot at Duke or have another opportunity to beat Clemson in the ACC tournament.

Agreed. On espn they have us listed as a 6 seed as of today. If we win out and show up in the ACC tournament, I think we get a 5 seed, which I am totally content with. Our ceiling is a 4 seed, but we would have to win the ACC tournament..which is doable. Just can’t let up these last 4 games. There really isn’t any room for error.
Who knows but Louisville wins out doesn’t matter unless the teams currently projected higher go on a losing streak. UK is a good example they could lose 3 games. That may take them from a 3 seed to 5 seed. Has to be negative movement in front of them. Louisville’s resume is not great.
Tonite’s game at VT is a trap game; all the hallmarks of fierce physical battle inside, as the Hokies are big, if not as skilled as most of our ACC opponents.
Ibe and Watterman both will need to contribute, as VT will challenge Scott inside at every opportunity. Noah has been struggling with shooting the 3, and in truth, he is a lot more effective distributing the ball when he is on the perimeter, rather than taking the open perimeter shots.

Sorry but if we have to rely on Ibe or especially Waterman we are in deep doo doo. I think Traore is the guy who has stepped up and taken Noah's rotation spot. We don't need Noah jacking up 3's, we have enough guys doing that already. We need another guy who plays tough defense and is not afraid to get rebounds.
I'm not so sure this is a trap game as that is usually defined as. The Cards next game is at home against a struggling Pittsburgh team and usually a trap game is before a big game.
As for VT, they just last weekend scored only 36 points in an 18 point loss to Boston College. They have played better at home like most teams, but the Cards should be a huge problem for them to score against.

On a pure matchups level from among your list, I'd pronounce myself more confident playing Tennessee again as well as Alabama than A&M of the schools outside of the number 1 seeds. Alabama has the classic look of a Bracket Disaster--just as capable of tossing up a second round flop as making it through to the Title Game. I just don't trust teams that don't guard Modern Game be damned. Tennessee is the polar opposite. As physically as they pummeled us they shot in that game in a way they haven't really replicated all year. We made them look like the Pistons of the 80's spending the first right minutes of that game chucking threes and getting run into screens chasing the ball for 30 seconds on the other end. But in the way they beat us up, A&M does that nightly. They turn every game into an MMA bout on the backboard.

Back to “a trap game”; it’s all about hosting versus away. Pitt is better than VT, but I am much more confident playing Pitt here than VT there.
The loss at GT was an upset for sure, but their performance in Atlanta was predictable knowing that Terry was returning healthy to their lineup.

We are not alone CardHack; Jay Bilas has identified the Gators (before last night) that he believes Florida is the best team in the SEC, and will have the best chance for advancing in tournament play.
Last night at VT serves as further evidence that most any underdog at home can be a dangerous opponent and capable of upsetting a favorite.

CPK used the term “desperate” several times yesterday to describe GT and VT in a most complimentary manner. Pat is not only a great coach, he understands the nuances associated with college sports as well as anyone. This upcoming period of conference tournaments and the NCAA will witness a level of “desperate” competition that I believe will result in more upsets than ever before.
If that is the case, how does CPK convince the team that we need to play "desperate" and not complacent at times, which seems to occur during the last few games. Yeah, I know not everyone is healthy but nobody's team is. We seem to be able to get big leads and then at some point its down to 2 or 3. We have been able to pretty much not give up the lead but there again the competition on a ranking basis hasn't been noteworthy. I'm not skeptical about getting it done but I have been concerned a bit about the individual one on one play. Chucky has to realize he has to get his teammates engaged and his points will come, especially at the end of games if we have the lead. He needs to stop driving the ball between multiple defenders. One of the announcers even said, officials are not likely to call fouls if you are initiating the contact by dribbling into the defense. Edwards is better doing that.
I think it's mostly the grind of a long season, especially with a team that has played hard every single game. We all know the lack of depth due to injury and that has taken it's toll.
Then add the flu for a couple of weeks, then playing road games at 8pm on Sunday and 9pm on Tuesday and teams having plenty of video to make adjustments to what the Cards have been successful at.
There's going to be a lull but it needs to be a short one and the Cards now have three home games to get back on track. The good thing is the Cards have won these games despite the lull.
I think we pretty much know what Louisville's identity is going into the post season. If everyone is 100 percent I think we will see what we have seen during this unbelievable run of winning 16 out 17. Great team chemistry and awesome attention to details.
