League records vs RPI Top 25

Opps, I'm bad at the maths - damn Canadian edumacation. 3 of last 11 :D
I think his analysis was this year, not the last decade.

"What have you done for me lately?"

And since Carolina is ranked #16, the SEC is a big goose-egg against the highest ranked teams, e.g., Top 15.

I'm not sure any conference we ever played in was that bad.

Do you think they will finish that low or are we ending the season today?

Right, this year's record is awful - I wonder what it looks like in recent years, if it's that bad.

The SEC has been miserable for a long time - when Florida was good UK was terrible and since UK has gotten good the rest of it is terrible (the one good year Florida had notwithstanding) so I thought it interesting that the conference still managed to produce 3 titles in that time span. You know, since playing in a shitty conference is such a hindrance come tournament time.

One team don't make a conference either. If it's LPT now, Florida a decade ago, someone else before that... That's just statistics. A dead body floats to the surface every now and then.

And if you happen to be that "body" today, what's that say about the rest of the conference/schedule? You can't play yourself.

Well, most of the OOC schedule is over. And if you're hoping that the postseason will result in a phoenix rising from the ashes in the form of the SEC, how did last year's postseason play out for ya?

Is this strictly non conference? If not, the SEC is gonna end up with a way worse record than it has now, since UK is the only highly ranked RPI team and the rest of the league is gonna go 2-16 or 3-15 against UK in all likelihood.

Wait, Florida is #3 RPI? They've played 3 good teams and are 0-3 in those games.

Those ratings have really jumped the shark.

So if the SEC has won the title 3 out of the last 11 years, what's so important about playing in a tough conference?
You guys keep saying the ACC prepares you for the NCAAT better than a crappy conference would, well, Nova won it last year out of a bad conference and the SEC has 3 in the last 11. Why is that?
The sorry SEC had two teams in the FF in 2014, that's a heck of an accomplishment for such a terrible league don't you think? One was an 8 seed.

Because SOS is only one factor.

Talent is another. The number of blue-chippers on LPT's roster is well documented. Florida also had 3 of the Top 8 US kids picked in the 2007 NBA Draft. And they were probably just catching lightning-in-a-bottle.

Those Florida teams were a weird confluence of "good" recruits that all overachieved and stayed a year longer than most in their position do. Donovan had gobs of talent at Florida during his tenure there, it's weird that it was this particular class that delivered him his 2 titles.

Going to your rivals message board to defend your conference that is as bad as it has ever been in all of history o_O
It's ridiculous. And it's almost as ridiculous admitting it but saying it doesn't matter.

Hell, I am on my rival's board and even I am not defending the conference. It's garbage. There is no way to spin it otherwise.

It's not very good this year. That much I agree. The SEC is normally UofK and one other quality team but it is looking like it's UofK and 13 mediocre teams this year. That makes for some very happy Cat fans because let us all be as honest as possible. UofK fans don't care if the Cats are playing the Korean War Disabled Veterans, they want to see blow out wins. UofK fans enjoy that a lot so playing in a watered down conference fits the narrative. Pimp the talent. Use the weaker stage to prop the talent up. Send them to draft night. Shampoo, Rinse, Repeat. Making the 19 year old players rich is the goal. Academics be damned.

Actually, we would rather see UK play in a conference with a lot of good teams. The ACC is fun to watch.
Also, if you lose in the ACC it's okay, it most likely isn't a bad loss, whereas if you lose in the SEC, it's most likely a bad loss and it will be looked at in a negative light on selection Sunday. In the SEC they circle that UK game on their schedule and make a huge production out of it, in the ACC, it's just another tough opponent coming in with different challenges (it's normal). I would much rather have the latter, I hate playing in the SEC where these teams play out of their minds for one game, then go back to their normal average selves the rest of the season, then cry because they missed the NCAAT.
Conference road games are tough, I don't care what conference it is.
But we shouldn't be faulted because we like to watch our team play, you guys didn't mind watching UL play when they were in the CUSA, this is no different.

CUSA had very good teams. Memphis, Cincinnati, UofL, and Marquette were always good. Bad comparison on your part.

Regarding the Super Bowl analogy you brought up. When you're on top of the SEC mole hill, the other moles want to climb up and try to knock you off. That's just life in the SEC for UofK. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

I was more referencing UNC sliding in the polls. To answer your question though, I expect two MAYBE three SEC teams in the Dance. Kentucky and Florida are probably going to be in. I'm hoping at least one of the remaining teams can beat up on the rest and squeeze in.

I've always been a big fan of Avery Johnson. I admit, lol, half of that is just that he has one of the greatest smiles ever seen, ha ha. Some guys smile and so do you - you can't help it. He is that infectious.

But he looks like he could help Alabubba.

The guy has a NBA coach of the year on his belt. Did he win a title in the NBA as well?

For hating us so much, Cue is REALLY good at speaking for UK fans. It's weird.

I'm just really impressed that you have so much insight into what all UK fans want and are satisfied with. You must have several very close friends who are UK fans that confide in you regularly.
I used to. I guess they got tired of me telling them how they felt then left me alone in my own house. Come to think of it, this is also my home so UofK fans have the same option if they don't care for my insight.

Just saying.

Like me, Cue has sampled enough slapd!ck logic over the years to be able to regurgitate it anytime. And once understood, it changes very little.

The UK fan's understated passive aggression is always a huge smiling offense. The assumption, of course, being that they have just so much under the hood.

Did anybody watch the Auburn offense today. They only passed the ball when they were forced to pass the ball, which wasn't very often. Dribble around and shoot. Talented group of young players who don't know how to play basketball, as a team, at all. Kentucky has a very talented team, and they play well together, considering everything, but the teams in their conference are awful. Awful.

I'm not sure what that means, but I took his advice.

Typical UK fans. When the present is terrible, rely on the past. The SEC is a joke is basketball and I am sick of tired of hearing UK fans act like they have a "tough matchup" against Auburn, Texas a&m, etc. Not taking away from UKs success, but you are benefitted when the seeding for the tournament comes out because after Christmas you don't have to worry about playing a team that has a realistic shot of beating you until the actual tourney starts. You are then seeded highly because every other team in america is playing quality schools (and losing a few). You then get a 1-2 seed and don't play a legitimate team until sweet sixteen or possibly elite 8.

All uahkay fans need to be reminded that all of those "wins" they have were achieved by playing versus schools that didn't give a rat's ass about anything other than football. Maybe, back in the day, uahkay should have given the Bear a Caddy and coruppt a cigarette lighter or maybe even a pack of cigs.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

It's like I've said before...Louisville has ALWAYS played in a BETTER and THOUGHER conference in basketball since becoming a D-1 School...Just look at all the teams that have played in a Final Four, or have played for, or won a National Title that have been a part of those conferences!!!

Cincinnati (2)...Played for 3
Connecticut (4)
Dayton...Played for title
Duke (5)...Played for 12
Florida State...Played for title
Georgetown (1)...Played for 2
Georgia Tech
Houston...Played for 2
Marquette (1)...Played for 2
Memphis State...Played for 2
North Carolina (5)...Played for 9
North Carolina State (2)
St. Johns
Syracuse (1)...Played for 2
UNC Charlotte
Villanova (2)
Virginia
West Virginia...Played for 1
Witchita State

UK has...

Arkansas (1)...Played for 2
Florida (2)...Played for 3

Georgia
LSU
Mississippi State

All these teams are since 1980 (LSU)...Two Final Fours...Georgia (1) Final Four...So for 80+ years...Other than UK...The SEC has SUCKED...That's why UK has the all time wins mark...They've played TRASH!!!
