We score more often when he takes the snaps...Period!
LJ has taken the snaps on 25 possessions at Louisville against Auburn, Houston & Samford, and led his team to a score on 14 of those attempts, including 11 TDs. That's a 56% scoring rate, 44% scoring a TD. If you remove the Samford game altogether (since that is FCS competition), he has still scored on 7 of 15 (47%). And remember, that's his "1st" 15 possessions in his career, with no spring practice & no redshirt season. Despite his youthful mistakes, he can take it to the house, at any time, if the defense makes a mistake. That's worth something.
By comparison, Kyle has had 42 possessions against Murray, FIU, UK, GA, Houston & Clemson. He, too, has led us to 14 scores (10 TDs). But that's only 33% conversion rate, 24% TD rate. And 25 of those 42 possessions came behind last year's oline, and 22 of those 25 were with DeVante Parker.
Reggie's numbers are dreadful, including 0 for 8 this year.
I like Kyle. We need him. Great kid, great leadership skills. But Lamar looks like he can be something really special. I don't care how he does it, what he looks like, and how gimmicky we may be perceived. What matters is scoring more points than the opposition, and we've been better at that when he has been QB.
At the end of the day....It's really that simple.
