Almost 400 yards passing with 2Tds, 0 INTs and 0 sacks with no running game behind a young offensive line that constantly blew assignments and was responsible for NINE False Start penalties.

Oh and LJ also ran for 107 yards. Anyone want to guess what this kid would do behind a good offensive line with a good running back? The mind boggles.

Going to enjoy him while I can thru the heartburn.

I actually think both can get much better. The O line is talented but inexperienced. Bell is going to be a good Center, but it was his first game. Colin Wilson is going to be a special talent, but he's out with a broken hand right now. He was the #2 or 3 rated RB in the state of Florida last year.

Agree about the offensive line talent. It won't matter much who's running the ball if they keep getting greeted 3 yards into the backfield.

Here's hoping this young group develops like the young o-line of 2002 did. They went from nearly getting Dave Ragone killed on the field to a really good unit.

While all that is true, in Lamars Junior year, shouldn't clapping for the snap be a thing of the past?
That's the only reason our new Center's head didn't explode last night. Can you imagine the amount of false starts last night if Lamar was behind him chanting: "248 Mike Mike, 55, 55, Razor Omaha 3, HUT hut HUTTT hut HUT".

As it was we had 9. Babying the youngsters on the offensive line is necessary unfortunately.

Pretty sure Wilson has actually been cleared to play and dressed out last night.

The ABC guys gave Lamar a helmet sticker and a shoutout.

He's probaly number 3 right now behind Mayfield and the Penn st rb.

Doesnt matter theyre not going to let him win it again.

He could throw for 6000 yds and 60 TDs and theyd give it to someone else.

He said his goal was the National Championship...............

I mean he's the same stud no doubt. He looked a tad more comfortable in the limited pocket he had but he still isnt checking down well. Would have liked to see a little more accuracy on the longer throws. Play calling wasn't great IMO and the penalties were just absurb.

All in all I think we looked like crap last night, glad we won but hope to god it's just a one off performance. Team needs some discipline and the clap count clearly doesnt work. Saying we have to do that for the centers sake is ridiculous. He snapped 2 balls in the dirt last night and are lucky we only got called for 9 false starts. We committed a lot more than that. Lot of work needed before Clemson.

Go cards

Actually I read it was 10 false starts! LOL! WOW!! Still won the game against a team very hungry for a win and had plenty of help with TEN false starts, two red zone fumbles and missed two point conversions. STILL WON and Lamar outgained the entire Purdue offense BY HIMSELF.

Damn right he's leading for the Heisman after week 1. He should be.

Go CARDS!!!

I'm really liking this team, speaking of amazing. I think the freshman influence is huge and way more important than many people understand. Here's why I say that: Young guys have no sense of "ceiling". They compete to get on the field and there is not much beyond that until they acquire a late season maturity, suffering some pain during the process, perhaps.

You get a hot young class as a whole - one of those impossible-to-plan situations (although it is why you recruit who you do), a few of them break into the lineup, and their concentration is pure and their hitting gets awesome. "No fear" should be every freshman motto, because we see the very definition of it in the new people, not that they do or even care. Their humility is in their innocence. But you can go far indeed with that push and attitude. I think it's just a hidden blessing for a team. You get more Joy, lol.
