The conversation came up yesterday over there about NIL.
Kilen's name came up and I told the folks I was talking to that Tennessee bought our short stop for 100k.
Made me wonder about how it's going down there. He's batting in the top of the lineup but he's not playing short anymore.
He's playing 2nd base. Smdh

Guess I can't blame the young man. Still, something stinks about this when these big $$$$ programs can just start out bidding to get the guys they want.

Oh well..

SEC has been pouring money into their non-revenue programs. The results show. If they really did spend 100k for Klein then have to figure their NIL budget is 3M plus. Can’t imagine their budget for pitchers. That increased funding appears to have been tied to their new coach. With him they have really taken off.

Yeah, and I'm not sure who pursued who here. I have no idea what Kilen's family situation financially is/was.
I don't know if there was something other than money as a motivation.
This is what we're up against going forward. Look for the $ec to dominate the sport until it changes.

I bet they didn't tell him that they were moving him to Second when they were "recruiting" him.
He was a really good college SS.

His path to pro’s maybe at 2nd base. Not sure he had the arm to be a starter at MLB level. 2nd is a good place for him if that is the case.

I had to get into the roster a bit and I remember the kid who's playing short from last season. He was a Freshman All American. Dean Curley is a pre season All American, Golden Spikes, etc.
Kilen had to know he was likely going in there to play 2nd.

Btw, Humphrey is doing ok down at Ole Miss as well. I doubt he got 100k.

I was looking at the Tennessee roster and it's stacked with transfers from P5 programs as opposed to our transfers that are coming in from mid majors.
Mac's job not getting any easier and his concerns about facilities are both legitimate and current.
