VCU granted his release when Shaka Smart left for Texas.

Kenny was a top 100 SG per Rivals/ESPN and Demling has reported that the Cards have contacted him.

I believe he would be eligible next year.

I read somewhere UNC and FLA are also in the mix, and probably ahead of where we are with him obviously. I am not positive but I believe he is from NC.

Re: Kenny Williams - Information from UNC

The North Carolina Tar Heels are in the running for another recruit in the class of 2015. VCU commit Kenny Williams has decided to re-open his recruitment after being granted a release by the school.

With Williams re-opening his recruitment, the Tar Heels along with three other teams are back in the mix for the talented shooting guard. A guard that can shoot the ball is also something the Tar Heels need after struggling at times last season, Williams can fit that role.

According to Evan Daniels, Virginia, Georgetown and Michigan are also involved in the 81st ranked player in ESPN's top 100. The four-star recruit could make a decision soon and if he picks the Tar Heels, an average class turns into a better one going into next season.

Williams committed to VCU in November but asked to be pulled from his scholarship after head coach Shaka Smart accepted the head coaching job at Texas. He has offers from schools like Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, George Mason among others.

He is 6'2 165...me personally I would take the chance on a 5th year SR for the last spot. 1-they have proven they can play; 2-physically they are ready to play 3-you know mentally they are ready because they have played for at least 3 years. 4-I think they would be more equipped to meet the demands of playing for CRP. They are coming here for their last audition for the pros...proving that they can play on the highest level against the best competition. That equates to hungry in my opinion; so know you have a talented player that you know is hunger and that is a recipe for player success. To many unknown with the kid. I admit I know nothing about him but it does us no good bringing in highly rated players if they are not L1C4 material. He would just end up on the bench mad and then transfer out.
