I’d venture it’s a good thing we didn’t make the PO or play PSU this year?

In fairness I haven’t watched it so maybe there is a 35 point (at this time) excuse?

Appearances can be deceiving. Jennings threw two pick sixes to start the game, then threw a 3rd interception deep in PSU’s end of the field.

Ok

I truly expected an SMU win and when I saw the score thought maybe Jennings’s got hurt.

Or opted out last minute 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

SMU D actually did a good job. Jennings did them no favors, and he was pressured all day. The crowd got to them. That said, if they take care of the ballots a much closer game. PSU was still the better team.

SMU always played fast and what do they do yesterday play slow. There 1st driver the played fast and Penn St looked like Louisville. The Jennings threw a terrible pass that was an easy throw, from my couch, for an easy TD. Then the pick sixes that were as bad as the missed TD.

Consistent pressure on a QB makes most of them average to bad. Penn St dominated them up front. Pretty much the story for this 1st round. The better fronts dominated.

The Committee’s decision to expand the playoff deserves recognition, but is it a coincidence that all of the usual suspects with traditional power reputations are given host positions for their respective games? Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas and Ohio State each enjoyed a significant advantage. In most instances it might not make any difference as to where the game would be played, however in the case of University Park, PA., I cannot recall a sporting event where the host school received a more favorable advantage over the visiting school.

Anyone who is familiar with both Dallas Texas and University Park, Pennsylvania appreciates the variance in climate between the two locations. The PSU crowd was most impressive and it’s a credit to the school to provide that much support; just think it was too much advantage for one school to enjoy over another.

I love the home field. In the bowl system most of the best bowls are located in the South. The SEC benefits the most with that set up.

They should get the advantage because they are the higher seed. I think the cold is a bigger factor. It isn’t fun playing in cold. Everything stings or hurts. Jennings couldn’t gripe the ball his passes weren’t on target all game. Warm weather teams don’t like it.

Then players should not want to play in the NFL.

Lot of COLD places there.

I get it though. If PSU/SMU played again, SMU would know what to expect.

Also SMU typically plays before about 35,000 at home. This was over 100,000. It was very intimidating, especially in the student end of the field (our “crunch zone”). It would have been a closer game without the turnovers (2 pick 6’s) but PSU was just more aggressive and more physical. Give ‘em credit.

I agree. It always bugged me the Alabama never played a game outside the south. The only time they played up north it was at Wisconsin in September when it was still warm.

As flawless as Jennings looked against us, he looked equally as incompetent against Penn State. Watching Indiana I am reasonably certain that there wasn't a single offensive starter that I would take over ours and the number of blown blocking assignments was pitiful. Beyond that their special teams were awful.

I was more than happy Ohio State put the wood to Tennessee; I have never been able to stomach them.

SMU played uptempo against our D and they were predictably unprepared and not lined up correctl
This is where the crowd factored in. They couldn’t run their uptempo style. The 1st drive was uptempo after that it was much slow paced. They ended up huddling up.
