First, I will say this we need to get out of the ACC and try to head to the Big12.Yet another year of the powers that be that run the ACC playing Puppet master and trying to dictate who it's conference champion will be. All this year they have been trying to prop up Miami just for them to not make the CFP and once again after Clemson and SMU are one and done the ACC will look less than in the eyes of the national media. All of the clear no-calls in the SMU and Miami games being dictated by their bogus replay station set up in Charlotte to me just proves my point. I am also tired of the ACC fascination with Notre Dame. I say cut ties and just bring in another school who will be a full-time member and not play this one foot in, one foot out BS.When we first got the invite to join the ACC, I thought we would be seen as an asset but instead only the "Tabacco Road" schools get the push. The ACC doesn't even promote our rivalry with UK, hell they don't even promote Duke vs. UNC anymore. I know the whole landscape of college football has changed but I honestly believe we got more respect and recognition when we were in the Big East. This past summer there was rumors of a Big 12/ACC merger or agreement and nothing came of it.We have the two HC in charge of our basketball and football programs who can elevate us and I feel like the ACC will do nothing but hold us back because they don't see us a viable member of their Atlatic Coast conference.

Man how do you really feel?

If it wasn't the ACC doing this whatever conference we would be in....likely would do the same. Like you I used to think just win and it won't matter. Not so sure about that anymore. The Cards are just the red headed bird that gets no respect.

I strongly dislike what CFB and CBB have become. I am losing interest fast. Maybe its my older age setting in and truly understanding that $$$ is the root of all evil that is turning my POV. Its like, 'Well hell, what's next?"

Its just not fun anymore. I really feel for the coaches. The players are just a product of this 'Me first, everything goes Wild West environment that has been created for and by them.'

I wish they wouldn't play this game this way. It truly is toxic and unsustainable. The ACC is what it is. I would prefer the B12 or some combination of 20 ACC/B12 with 2 dividions that excludes the NC mafia. That would teach them. Alas, that is just my pipe dream. UNC/Duke/WF/NC State can just bite me. We got to know you and you are .............

College Football began its slow death spiral in 2012 when Missouri and Texas A&M moved to the SEC.

How on earth are we supposed to take the playoff seriously when the #1 sports network in the world has a 10-year contract with one specific conference? When you combine the initial shift in 2012 with the TV contract and the seismic and absolutely insane move to add Oklahoma and Texas to an already 14-team conference, you can clearly see what the college football playoff is angling to do. They are setting it up so that the SEC can dominate the playoff and consistently get at least 3 but as many as 5 teams in the 12 team field. The fact that Alabama was even in the conversation for a spot is all you need to know. You can't even realistically use strength of schedule rankings because a lot of that is based on rankings and points spreads which ESPN also interferes with. It's hard to get ranked wins when ESPN doesn't rank you. Promoting Alabama when South Carolina and Ole Miss both have better resumes is yet another glaringly obvious example of what the college football playoff is trying to achieve. Alabama's nonconference schedule included WKU, USF, Mercer and Wisconsin - you can't schedule much weaker than that.

Miami has nothing to complain to about. They should have lost multiple games this year and still lost to Syracuse and Georgia Tech - two "not bad" losses but two losses nonetheless. You can't put Miami in over SMU. Unfortunately you can't put them in over Penn State and because of the Penn State and IU wins - you can't put them in over OSU.

The 12 most deserving teams got in. YOU CAN NOT LOSE 3 GAMES and be considered for the playoff. In the end not losing games matters more than who you played.

Unless you are Clemson and win your league ship game. Then you can be in.

Do you think if TX beat UGA and gave them their 3rd loss that they would have been left out?

The SEC mafia would have gone berserk. Even worse than Bama, Ole Piss, and USC jr being left out. The hissing would be unbearable. Suchi s life in the fast lanes.

Right. I forgot about Clemson having 3 losses.

I was praying for Texas to win that game just so we could watch the talking heads bend over backwards to justify putting a 3-loss UGA team in over a 3-loss Ole Miss team that beat them by 18 points, even though all three Ole Miss losses are worse than UGAs'.

I didn’t watch the tx-uga game but I heard from a couple people that the refs had an impact?

True false I don’t know.

But pre game I was thinking I’d bet everything would be done to guarantee the “old guard” sec made the PO

Can’t have some snot nosed newbies winning the best conference in the universe 🙄

Completely agree Mayoman, and I too wonder if my feelings are tied to my 75 year age; but so many of my younger UL fans express the same feelings that I have. Greed and money have changed college sports and not in a good way.

2 cents? That’s more like a nickel 😆

I’m 63 so no spring chicken, but my interest has gone south too. Heck I forgot about the BB game yesterday. I never use to do that. Between NIL, portal, and the SEC and Big 10 trying to create a monopoly in college sports with the help of ESPN. It’s gotten old. The excitement has left the building, so to say.

Wow, I got Mayo to comment on one of my post, and I totally agree with everything you said.

I love having the Brown but the simple fact that people are saying that we are going to have to dig deep to keep him just shows how corrupt college football has become. I was all for NIL at first, as I believe players should get some kind of compensation. But now it has gotten out of hand. Pandora’s box has been opened and there is no going back.

I get but nothing really changed. Money has always been a factor. Players have all came and went they just do it faster and are paid in the open. I am not a fan of where it is going but the results have been fun to watch.
It still is a good product to watch. All the home games were entertaining. Louisville was able to build a legit roster.

The downfall and it is coming will the SEC and Big Ten arrogance. The playoff is good for college football. IU, Arizona State, Boise St and SMU all have a shot at a title that is awesome. It has teams from all 3 time zones. It has incredible 1st round games. It is just packaged differently. Remember when all the big bowl games were on New Year Day? It was awesome. Now you get it next weekend. As a college football fan what more can you want?

It will expand but the ACC and Big 12 need to fight for equal representation. The reality is for the TV people they need the ACC and Big 12 to be good. It generates more viewership. It introduces more fanbases to watch their product. The end game may not change but the road to get there changes every year. It is the best soap opera or TV series ever. The SEC and Big want to blow it up because they want more teams that can’t win it either. That is their arrogance and the TV folks greed. Hopefully, next weekend is a ratings juggernaut.

You never hear the great story of Arizona State without the playoff. SMU who was sentenced to death because they cheated better than Texas counterparts is now playing for a chance to win a title. Yeah let’s blow all this up to get more 3 loss SEC teams in. Greed and arrogance has killed a lot of good things. The Roman Empire eventually failed.

Tha classic “Be careful what you wish for….” 😉

Right now, the ones it hurts most are those who are paying for a lot of it.

Fans

And, I truly believe some players downs the road are going to have serious financial problems thru overspending, NOT making the league (or at a reduced salary) and TAXES!!

It going to be a rude awakening for some.

Of course all we will hear is MORE of how the poor “kids” were “taken advantage of”
🙄🥱

The economic model doesn’t work. College sports will die, and it will shock many who won’t believe how fast it falls. The only way out is to go to a scheme with player contracts and a salary cap to include coaches and administrators. There also needs to be stronger academic standards and a player bonus for graduation in four years.

Actually, there are 6 representing the 50 States and one could make a case for 8 depending on whether or not DST is in effect… that would include Puerto Rico and Guam. 😉 (Sorry, I spent a LOT of time traveling over the years… 😎✈️) Cheers!

Technically, aren't there 24 time zones?

Quite correct! Thank you.
