Your defense really caused a lot of issues for MSU, especially the size,length of the bigs. Not easy to practice against. It took a walkon freshman , Goins to stand up to your bigs.

I'm not basketball expert but it seemed to me the game turned on 2 things:
1. Your bigs missed a number of foul shots, which is deadly in a close game
2. I think you have to play man defense. MSU shoots too well from outside whereas only Valentine and
Harris can make their own shot.

Congrats on the win. I would've loved to get the win but I honestly wasn't expecting it on the road against a great team this early in the season. Maybe the two teams will meet again later on.

Moral victories suck no matter how you slice it. This is a loss that could have, maybe even should have been a win. That just sucks.

Still, we're just 6 games deep in a season with only 1 returning starter and 5 newcomers to the team. That is the only consolation. The UofL kids went toe to toe with a really good basketball team on their home floor and had a chance to win. Considering the circumstances, it's not difficult to feel good about the effort. Winning feels better though. Hopefully we get another shot at MSU in post season play. Congrats to the Spartans! They earned a hard fought physical win. A missed bunny here, a missed free throw there, and a big time circus shot before the half turned out to be the biggest difference for MSU to garner the win. I know some blame the officials for poor calls, but in games like this one, the best way to overcome the bad calls is to execute the plays and the Cards didn't. Too many missed layups and free throws. We earned the loss.
