Most sites had us in the top 20 but were coming in around 28 or 29. What happened? There's nothing wrong with that and we got all our commitments but that's a good 10 off of what was estimated. My bigger concern is that we finished 6 in conference.

In watching the ESPNU coverage at lunch the panel (Mack Brown, Les Miles and Tom Luginbill in particular) were in consensus on something when it came to recruiting the foundation of Championship caliber football team...you can fall out of bed these days and land wide receivers above all else (which we have apparently for consecutive years), but the foundation is laid on the offensive line, with defensive linemen and with cover people. We really hammered the O line and secondary this year with just the type of foundation you have to have to realistically compete with FSU and Clemson. But Man...we appear to really be in trouble with whatever defensive front we are running unless some major transformations take place with younger talent. In the last two weeks we missed on Guy Thomas, lost Stephens for one reason or another, Hutch for the same at DT and none of the other DTs we either had visiting or coveted visits from--Darden and the other DT going to FSU, Conliffe never visited and ended up at Florida--and the potentially really bad late flip with Odom. We went from potentially fitting some needs there to completely getting shutout at a position where we saw the dangers of being thin at the end of the year.

I would caution though...we got Lorenzo Mauldin well after NSD when South Carolina cut his scholarship loose; realistically though, we need two or three of that caliber player either on the edge or the defensive interior.

28 or 29 would make this our best class (or equal to) in history. Coming off a disappointing finish to the season, I'll take that.

And the 6th best recruiting class in the nation's best conference ain't real shabby.

Did anyone mention the Heisman Trophy winner is playing for us too?...

CBP said in his conference that next years recruiting focus would be the defensive line. CBP has the ability to get the best out of his players.

We got some really good O-lineman and a lot of athletes. Let Bobby P. work his magic. We will be fine.

This reminds me of CBP's first time around at UL a defense that is a little bit above average and an offense that can out score anybody.

Other schools closed Louisville faded. Louisville had at least three de-commits in the week and only added one player today. To close strong they needed to add three or four big-time guys today. The Cards hosted a lot of highly ranked defensive lineman and didn't land any of them.

Just checked out Rivals team rankings. Cards came in at 25th with 22 signings. FWIW, Stoops class not in the top 100 despite 24 signings. Last in the SEC.

the perfect job for you would be with the red cross working disasters. someone could lose everything and your sunshine pumping skills would cheer them up tremendously.

Not sure what you are looking at bases. Rivals has us at 27th and UK at 25.
In the end rankings don't matter - splitting hairs at these levels. Coaching is what should separate us.

Or I could check back tomorrow when you've changed your tune, and I'll be better suited for something else!...

Ok, just went and checked again. Louisville at 1685 points (25th) Uk at 90 points not in top 100. I went to this site at the top and clicked on recruiting team ranking for 2017. I was shocked to see UK that low. Maybe this information is incorrect. If so, my apologies to all.

Be happy about SOMETHING.

Really?? they have 4 4 star players and 17 3 star players, and you can't figure out on your own that there was a error on their point total.

naw, you are the sunshine pumping Quick hating, arena authority guy that gets mad at anybody with an opinion different than your inside information.
We have love for the Cards in common so I guess there is something about you that is solid.

hopefully ms klenakis you can ask your husband to find some linemen that can get pressure on the QB so we dont have to go 3rd and grantham.

hope this was a solid class and that someone can stop the a, or b gap pressure, and that we have a gem of a player like Elvis was years ago.

Looks like the class has finished ranked 27 on Rivals. I'm still at a loss for what Damon Williams will do. Kid didn't commit early enough I guess and we were Aj Davis or bust on RB because we had Wilson in the fold. Best class we've had on Rivals? I am down with that. Just sucks we lost to UK again in that aspect. Say what you will but stoops can recruit.

I would have guessed that any recruiting deficiency we have is again attributed to Klenakis. At least his honeymoon lasted a few weeks.

The word "predictable" comes to mind...

How did you come with 6th best in conference? Looks like 4th best on rivals.

Change of D coordinators hurts, plus we need to build our rep for at least another decade to overcome non flagship status. I actually think it makes a difference psychologically

Our 2* long snapper brought us down. However, that 2* is an Army All American and one of the top 2 at his position and was needed in this class. As someone else said, splitting hairs. UK no doubt has an excellent recruiter in Ohio and like it or not, they beat us and look to be improving. With that said, they are still below their rivals in the SEC East except Vandy.

It's the bare minimum in any given year if we expect to the "next step"!

Washington made it to the playoff this year with the following recruiting classes:

2016 - #37
2015 - #31
2014 - #37

Assume you agree they made it to the "next step". Our recruiting is perfectly fine and as expected. Expecting more at this point is unreasonable...

Ok so we can expect to beat Our in conference rivals consistently and recruit below the consistently? That's wishful thinking IMO. Granted the difference between 20-30 is probably splitting hairs not nonetheless I maintain this is bare minimum standard.

Actually, there are several teams that consistently perform in the Top Ten with classes ranked no higher than ours. Wisconsin is another good example.

Also, you can't expect higher ranked classes because your name isn't Clemson or FSU. Not yet anyway. That will come, but it will take years. And it's not essential anyway. You're either wrong or beating your head against the wall thinking otherwise...

I'm simply saying 6th in ACC is the minimum standard to move forward. Not saying it's horrible.

Zipp, quit wasting your time. It's not registering. We got what we needed to get better.
