Grade the season

B

Said earlier that making the NCAAT would be a successful season. Turn a few of those close losses into wins and a win today would've bump it up to an A or A+.

Went from an A to a B.

Losing as a 7 seed to the 10 in the fashion they did, knocked the successful season down a peg.

Still 100 % behind Coach Mack and believe in his vision.

This will be Coach Macks last first round tournament loss.

Thank you Akoy, Quan and Christian.

Go Cards !

A. I hoped for a winning season and an NIT birth from a team that lost 94% of its offense from an NIT team. Great year, excited for next season.

I think if you average the part of the season where we were playing really well with the end of the season skid it averages out to about a C..

C+
It was a B+ but losing in the opening round of the NCAA tourney soured it some. Overall, a pretty good year that will help those coming back to be better next year.

I think your season was above expectations so I'd give it an A. You have a good man and coach running your program. To an outsider, y'all should be pretty pleased.

Today was rough but you made the tournament when most probably didn't think you would.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but your opinion here on this board means about as much as my opinion would on yours. Please go away.

Looking at the schedule, here's how I would grade it by month:

November: B
December: B
January: B+ (would have been an A if not for Pitt loss.)
February: F
March: C-

A-

Season exceeded expectations and we have secured a recruiting class that no one expected and has the top flight talent needed to compete for championships.

B+ they out performed their talent level and recruiting went better than expected. There are a bunch on variables for next year, but year 3 no excuses.

C to C-, was an A in my mind until the Duke loss, and then the collapse at the end of season, and then looking awful today. Was high on Mack, now have to wait and see. Honestly the last few years of losing and disappointment of losing banners and all the negative...I have become numb to losing and the enjoyment of UofL basketball not what it used to be for me.

I pegged the team before the season started at 18 wins and another NIT. Making the NCAA tournament, even losing in the first round exceeded my expectations. In addition, I thought the season up through February was fools gold. Everyone knew March was going to be tough and it was. Beginning with the Duke loss, it was a murderers row of one tough game after another. Still, they had enough grit to eke out an invitation to the dance. All in all, I give the team and coaches a solid B. Now, I look forward to next year for a return to the kind of success we all expect. Go Cards!

I'd give the whole season a solid B+. If it were by semester, I'd give the first an A+ and the second a C-. Somehow that averages a B+ in my mind.

Before season predicted to be a below avg team. Season started played above avg (A) .Middle of season average play(C plus). End of season played to the preseason predictions below avg. (F) I'll grade them on a sliding scale So they get a B

My grading scale: A-great, B-good, C-satisfactory, D-unsatisfactory, F-disaster

I said a good season would be if we made the tourney, so that's a "B".

NEXT year, barring something unforeseen and beyond Mack's control, a season like this will deserve a "C".

And the backdrop for these grades is a coach paid among the Top Ten at $4 million annually...

Overall, C+

Free throws as a team, A+
Team toughness, D-
Team Chemistry, C-
Coaching, C+

Just feel that this team accepted losing at times. Winners never accept losing. I like coach Mack, however would like to see a little more fire. Hopefully incoming class will bring one or two that winning means everything to them.

Solid B.

A lot accomplished, but a lot left on the table. Down from a B+ after today. Played to the level of competition too often. Fortunately, we had a very tough schedule which raised our hopes. Unfortunately, we had clunkers like Pitt and BC which left us scratching our heads. IMO today's loss to Minnesota was due to them not respecting their opponent. 86 points allowed says they didn't come into the game with a proper mindset.

When I first looked at our schedule before the season, I thought our ceiling was 19 regular season wins. But I didn't think we'd hit the ceiling. I figured 19 was the perfect situation of winning all the "winnable" games against average or worse teams, and I figured we'd fall short of that by losing to a few bad programs like we ended up losing to Pitt and BC.

I didn't dream that we could beat teams like Michigan State, North Carolina, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech. And have a shot at beating Duke. I thought every game against a top opponent would be like the UK game was, never really in it at all.

Overall I have to say we exceeded my expectations based on the amazing wins. I'll give it a B+.

Lots of good thoughts on here. This was a very solid, foundation-building year for Coach Mack. By all rights, we could have had a losing season (the 11th place team in the ACC this year finished 14-17). We not only beat that - we made the NCAA tournament.

I am disappointed with the loss today, but pleased with significantly exceeding expectations. And Coach Mack’s recruiting of Fore and Cunningham, plus this recruiting class, has been just as impressive. I will go with a B+ grade for Coach Mack’s entire first year.

We probably don't appreciate just how tough/challenging this first year was for this staff. They don't land CC this year would have been a disaster. Think about their SG's were 5-10 and 6-0 in the ACC. Their SF was a 6-4 walk on in the ACC. Yet, they make the tournament without King or Perry being big contributors.

I’m in the solid B+ range because CCM and his staff have started rebuilding the foundation of UofL basketball and going forward our recruiting has and will continue to grow. Plus they are doing it the right way and that counts for a bunch in my opinion. If we had beat Duke when we had the chance then it could have been an A-. But that didn’t happen so a solid B+.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Up thru halftime of the Duke game: A
After halftime of the Duke game: C
Overall: B

We were not even sure we would make it the NCAAT so thats a big plus. We had some big time victories against a brutal schedule. We overachieved the first half of the season. Cannot wait till October to see what Mack can do with the super class coming in.

That’s the biggest albatross around the athletics program. Quite frankly it saps my enthusiasm for basketball because I’m concerned when the next hammer drops.
But according to Zipp that albatross has no impact on attendance or our enthusiasm. I agree until the NCAA deals with Louisville there is no reason to be excited. Once that is settled we can really move forward.

Yeah when you have a coach on tape saying "We have to keep this on the downlow because we're on probation because of strippers" you have to assume that a bigger hammer is coming.

But wait!....I thought we weren’t technically on probation yet when that happened. That should make all the difference
