Tonight’s game was pretty rough in terms of attendance. If you haven’t been going and are physically and financially capable of going, please consider getting tix to NC State game. Just a reminder…It is fun to be there in person.

Also, Josh Heird - your predecessor f’d up tailgating in Purple Lot. You have the power to fix it. Get this done in the off-season since you won’t be spending your time hiring another coach.

Hank, what specifically should he do? That would be a great discussion among those of us who tailgate (sadly I’m an out of towner).

We’ve discussed it some. In short, get rid of the full first come first serve parking. Allow groups to get parking passes so they can park and tailgate together again. My idea is to make A lot first come first serve and the rest of the lots reserved. Another idea was to make half the lot reserved (west side of lot) and half first come first serve (east side of lot). The location of the reserved spots was a reward for CAF points - the more points , the better your group’s spots.

didn't they used to have reserve spaces and that was jsut as bad as you could not choose who you were next to. they should simply section off part of the lot with assigned parking spaces then allow ticket holders to pick there spots. everyone else first come first serve. then to make some money they add a feature for $20 where you can group purchase spaces with your freinds so you are all together. even create a bidding ebay style process for the best spots. but it's simple to do if anyone actually cared about the fans and their experience.

Announced attendance was 42,157. Second biggest crowd of the year behind the FSU game.

I too hope we have a big crowd for NC State. This team deserves a nice curtain call for the way they bounced back after a 2-3 start. Would love to be there for that game, but I will be attending my wife’s family reunion in Texas that day.

I'll say this, the stands may not have been full but the people who were there were loud and having a good time. Almost Everyone there was standing in the 4th quarter and engaged in the game.. If people don't want to come fine, the ones that show up are loud.. Time to cover the flight deck with a UofL logo and get everyone in the lower bowl.

That’s honestly a really solid suggestion - would look great on TV as well. Now, about that party deck…😂

My season tickets have been in the Flight Deck since it opened. The last two weeks I’ve received an email from the ticket office allowing me to upgrade my seats to any available seats in the stadium, so I’ve sat in Section 239 the last two games. Great seats. Looking up into the relatively empty Flight Deck leads me to believe everyone else up there also received the same offer. I have to assume this upgrade offer has been an attempt to fill the lower bowl.

When it was Green Lot, they allowed you to submit a group that you tailgate with and then your group would pick where you wanted to park. The selection order was based on CAF points. Our group had three different season ticket holders who got spots. Our three spots were all next to each other. The problems where:

1) UofL wanted a full lot for CardMarch but the A lot was always a ghost town that early before a game

2) many A and B lot people would come right before kickoff which created problems for pedestrians walking into the game and for tailgaters that had their tailgating festivities spill out into the drive

To alleviate these problems they went to first come first serve parking without fully understanding the ramifications it would have.

I know a lot of people still upset about the parking changes. When you take fun away, that impacts a lot of things. It definitely plays a role in reduced attendance. Tyra really screwed that up.

I think it might also be time to consider reducing the size of Cardinal Stadium. Don’t know how to do it, what goes, what stays, but our stadium is bigger than UNC’s and UVA’s, two large, flagship universities. We have a passionate fan base, some hard core fans, but we are a small fan base compared to some of our conference brethren. 50-55K seats sounds about right.

Probably makes sense but, if UofL is really as short on cash as people say - spending money to reduce seating seems like it should be pretty far down on the list. Cardiac Red’s suggestion of simply covering the flight deck with a UofL logo would be a much cheaper alternative with ultimately the same effect.
