WTH is up with FT %? Tonight, the Cards went 7-17 (42%). At one point, they were 3-10... And it's not just UL. GT only shot 40%. In close games like this, you can win or lose at the FT line.
Granted, on the year, UL is shooting 67%.. but even that is low. For comparison, UK is 70%, Illinois is 79% and leads DIV 1. Seems coaches don't put a lot of emphasis on it. Rick has said this in the past, so has Cal, among others.
My question/frustration is WHY NOT. Free points!!! If my fat-a$$ grade school coach can consistently hit 95% from the FT line, these world class athletes have no excuse to ever hit less than 80% consistently.
It's a learned skill, all it takes is practice and a little bit of technique...
