A rare Monday Night Louisville Field Hockey match for the Cards --- bringing the MAC Conference member Miami (OH).

The RedHawks had their wings clipped by Justine's Sowry's #3 Field Hockey squad 4-1 in front of a nice crowd for an evening Field Hockey game.

The Cards shattered the myth that they could only win in double-overtime and with only two goals last night. Julie Kouijzer, who has made a name for herself on the stat sheet recently, put the Cards on the board in the second quarter.

Penalty corners for the Cards have been better this year than in recent years and Louisville showed why again last night. Aimee Plumb inbounded the corner to Charlie Van Oirschot, who made the stop for Kouijzer's shot to break through the charging defense.

1-0 turned into 2-0 three minutes ;ater.

Camryn Pichea brought the ball into the circle and fired a shot on goal. It was originally thought it was a goal for Pichea, it would have been the first of the season for her, but a subsequent review indicated that Katie Schneider's stick barely touched the ball on it's way to the net and Katie got credit for the score.

That 2-0 lead held up to halftime. Early in the third quarter, Schneider showed up again with a deflected shot falling in front of her that she sent past RedHawks goalie Isabelle Perese.

The Cards added their fourth goal late when Mack Karl frove into the circle and fired a rocket into the goal on a nice maneuver and shot. Miami added a late score with 33 second left in the game against the Louisville reserves.

Post game Sowry:

"We are really pleased with this win," said UofL head coach Justine Sowry. "To be honest, the last couple of weeks, we've been a little sluggish. We're tired, physically and mentally. We've had a lot of overtime games and some tight games. But we've broken our season down into quarters and this was our last game of that second quarter… Tonight they came out on all cylinders firing and I'm just really pleased with the hockey that was played."

Louisville now goes on a five-game road trip that will take them to Michigan, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia over a 19-day stretch.
