Official release....

On Feb. 17 while at a team dinner, Coach Rick Pitino was informed of a text message sent by Chris Jones to another individual.  Chris was removed from the dinner table, immediately suspended from the team.  After the matter was addressed within the university and Chris surrendered his cell phone, he was permitted to return to the team on Feb. 19 with strict internal disciplinary measures attached, among which included a curfew.  It was discovered shortly after noon on Feb. 22 that Chris had violated a curfew and there were other accusations, without knowing specifics.  At that time, Chris was immediately dismissed from the team.

While Chris is no longer a member of our team, we understand that the allegations are very serious.  While we cannot comment on this ongoing investigation, we certainly expect our student-athletes to uphold certain standards, including their treatment of others.  We have great respect for the legal process and our university procedures and we will cooperate as requested with this matter.

"and there were other accusations"

What were the other accusations? If the report says "other accusations", along with violating curfew, it's hard to say it was solely for missing curfew.

I do imagine Rick couldn't have known about the whole situation, initially. Some of this newer info has to be a surprise to Rick, too.

Those "other accusations" must have been serious and deemed credible enough to warrant dismissal. Plus, the curfew that was violated was implemented as part of a disciplinary action.

So, calling it a "violation of curfew" does not show how serious the violation it was.

The university's statement says explicitly that it cannot comment on the investigation. Therefore, they say "curfew & other accusations" and let the process be the process. The sudden dismissal in the middle of dinner tells you what Rick knew and when he knew it.

Keep a racist on the team? Whaaa...?

Im saying kudos for Rick for kicking him off the team for something relatively minor as curfew violation. Its just the additional accusations make me go, Hmmm.

But still, those accusations probably didn't consist of the newer info that's recently come out. Even Rick right now is probably sayin', "What the Hell?" The tail end of all this is going to be a ride for everybody.

Kudos? No one out here knows the FULL TRUTH. You do not know if Chris Jones confided in telling Pitino before the leaks happen. You do not know if Pitino has heard from the authorities or by connections. We do not know what was said even if any one had spoken to Pitino about the situation before it went public and viral.

All that can be said is, wait and see all the information before making judgement. Jones should have never put him self in all these various situations. To me, it is all very sad.

It is sad. He violated curfew even after the suspension and reinstatement to the team. That act alone shows he's selfish and only cares about himself. Now because of violating curfew, he put himself in this situation. Is he guilty of rape and sodomy? IDK. All I know for sure is he's never going to represent UofL as a basketball player ever again. Those days are over.

Best case scenario from UofL/CRP's perspective at the time they were informed was that Chris broke curfew, therefore, could/should be dismissed from the team.

Worst case scenario from UofL/CRP's perspective at the time they were informed was what we've now heard, that Chris allegedly has committed or been involved in a heinous crime and, therefore, should be dismissed from the team.

CRP/UofL could not come out Sunday and say anything regarding the latter regardless what they knew.

At the end of all of this, many people are terribly hurt, emotionally/physically scarred, and hearts are broken...some for the rest of their lives.

Damn sad life event for all of us really.
