ESPN Keith Olbermann blasts Petrino

Keith Olbermann looks down upon every person who walks on the planet. He truly believes he was god's gift to mankind.

Can't stand to watch that guy, so I don't. Won't even click the link.

And we're supprised by this why??

We knew the baggage, we knew the backlash...talking heads do just that, don't worry though; there will be more to come.

Not saying CBP did anything overly untoward here, did offer the grey shirt afterall; but he is under the microscope and ANYTHING with the smell of dishonesty will get repeated in the national media somewhere.

No such thing as bad marketing though...it does send the message that we want to win to other potential recruits...it's a cold harsh world out there kiddo's.

No need to overreact to this; this is a NIGHTLY segment in which KO designates 3 people DAILY as The Worse, Worser, and Worst People in the World. Bobby Petrino just happened to be the guy who annoyed him the most yesterday.

Sounds like he is working the title for his own autobiography. What a peach he is.

What he and the rest of the media fail to understand is that Bobby Petrino was the first college coach to ever do this. It's a horrible thing Petrino invented and he should be ashamed of himself.

5 minutes listening to Olbermann makes me want to vomit. I bet he's a lot of fun at parties.

He's innovative. It's called Platooning scholarships.

cant believe ESPN hired him back .. but i guess things like this does cause people to put links on posts and have more people look at it. All about viewers.

Hey, i didnt click on the link but was the OSU RB coach that defected to the NFL the day after signing day .. was he one of the guys highlighted? I am sure they knew he was gone before that day i would have to believe. RB signee up in Mich was not happy.

The media does know that.....that's not the story. The story is that Coach Petrino has a lack of credibility with the public. Outside of the UofL fanbase people think he is a liar and a weasel. I think alot of people didn't believe his apology on ESPN a few years ago was sincere and that he said what he had to say to get back into coaching. So, they've been waiting for "Bobby" to reappear as they know him.

Unfortunately it appears that Petrino may not recognize this fact or doesn't care and in handling the Colburn situation. It has created a $hit storm for him, the team, and the University of Louisville. He can't handle these types of situations like he did before his fiasco at the Falcons or at Arkansas. He can't point at Saban or Butch Jones and say they did the same thing.....because it really has nothing to do with Colburn or the grey shirt, it's all about a leader of young men coming across as being a habitual liar and self-serving.

When Colburn was onsite two weeks ago for his visit that was the time where the grey-shirting probably should have been discussed. It should have been presented by Petrino, not an assistant coach.

It sucks to have to think about every decision you make and how it will be perceived by the media, but that's why he's getting paid as much as he is to do that job. The job he signed up for was to win football games and not allow his past to affect the present or future of the university in a negative way. He has to mitigate that moving forward.

Agree 100% on all fronts. It's what we as fans, and Petrino, signed up for when we hired him back. You HAD to know everybody would be watching and waiting for the chance to mock all the "he is a changed man" talk. What WE think of him as a person is irrelevant, due to the reputation and baggage he came back with. At the time of his rehiring, as a fan you had to decide whether you felt the risk of this type of scrutiny going forward was worth it to have him as our coach. The majority seemed to feel it WAS worth it (myself included), and now it is time to experience the consequences. Time to grin and bear it through the PR sh*tstorm, then celebrate the benefit when football season comes back around.

Grin and bear what? Our coach being blasted for doing the same thing all football programs do... The media in this instance is outlandish with it's stupidity.

I like Olbermann, however he's wrong and hypocritical
like the rest of the media in this regard.

Im proud to say i havent watch one second of any programming
discusing this situation from day one.

If Petrino was the first and only one, then blast away. He
wasnt.

WVA pulled a player's scholly offer on signing day !
Its recruiting. These things happen.

Honestly this whole thing has went WAY overboard. Scholarships are pulled and kids de commit daily. It's the nature of the beast, and to be honest if they kid would have had better offers I doubt he would have signed anyway. We have several guys in his position.

Alabama did the same thing but Olbermann doesn't have the balls to........

.....go after Alabama !!!

Spot on assessment Swine.
It was a bad decision for many reasons. Here's to hoping that we choose to never do that again.

Bad decision? I don't know. At two weeks out...is everyone quick to forget how much recruiting news was flowing during the last two weeks? Lots! Again - the scholly wasn't pulled. He was asked to come in Jan. What the hell is wrong with that. To me they were trying to NOT oversign - like many others did - and then have to give someone bad news. Bunch of crap in my book.

Everyone does it. The media picks and chooses who to point the finger at. However, why would E$PN allow a guy to smear one of their top tv markets?

Couldn't have said it better than either of these gentlemen. I'm on board with Bobby, but there are some things others can get away with that are going to cause a stink if he does them. It's the price he's going to have to pay for past missteps.

Thank God the wimps in our fanbase don't get a say in how we manage our football schollies...

I am a season ticket holder for football and hate to see this unethical treatment of this kid. If one goes to the Daily Norseman (Minnesota Viking blog) you will see what head coach Don Zimmer thinks of Bobby...not much! I hate to see this aspect of Bobby rear it's ugly head once more. Deeply disappointed in what he did to Colburn.

And I'm deeply disappointed with the weenies in our fanbase.

Can we call this a draw, or do we keep debating?...

Do facts even enter your mind when you type out crap like this?

There's nothing remotely unethical about offering a kid a scholarship that would ensue 4 months after you were offering the day before.

I'd sure love it if someone would lose their ethics over me and offer free ride back to college beginning Jan 2016.

Don't you have a date with Phyllis or some other delusional $EC West nitwit from Feinbaum?

Because he is painting a picture that strongly suggests Bobby Petrino and the University of Louisville Cardinals are the only program to ever to do this ever to a recruit. That's why. It's not difficult to understand the hypocrisy. The media does this shit all the time. They pick out ONE story, slant it to fit their own agenda then they blast away.

Olberman is one of the worse on TV doing it too. It's his persona in a nut shell.

I guess I shouldn't ask him if he was aware that 18 other schools gray shirted during recruiting process or why CNBC fired him.... here is what happened....You are blocked from following @KeithOlbermann and viewing @KeithOlbermann's Tweets.

Not saying anyone did anything wrong, or that others don't/didn't do the same thing. Two points
1. even if every school/coach does it, it is probably not a good idea.
2. perhaps Bobby's less than ethical behavior warrants a little closer scrutiny and deservedly so.
Personally, I think Bobby is a great coach.

Doberman is an idiot. Was a failure with the Al Gore network. Was really surprised when the four letter network rehired him. I agree with the poster that said don't watch him, don't even click on the story.
