The narrative attendance is down only because Pitinio isn't there is so freaking lazy and old.
Not 1 but 2 scandals will push the average fan away especially fans that took pride in running a clean program.

College basketball is different kids don't stay fans aren't as emotionally attached to players/teams.
Louisville had no incoming freshman or players that excited the fanbase.
Live events are consumed much differently than 5 years ago. Younger generation doesn't go to live events like we did.
Waiting in the next NCAA investigation. It is hard to get excited if you know the NCAA is going to do something in the near future.
Many of these factors came on the scene within the last 3-4 years. Next year with higher expectations attendance may increase, but it wouldn't surprise me if it declined.
