ESPN 680 Hater Twins portend bad things for men's basketball attendance...

Excuses posted by Thecycle27:

The narrative attendance is down only because Pitinio isn't there is so freaking lazy and old.

> Personally, I don't recall reading that much before now. Can you direct me to the places you've read it?

Not 1 but 2 scandals will push the average fan away especially fans that took pride in running a clean program.

> Why would fans continue to punish current management for the performance of the prior group? Makes no sense.

Attendance is a problem across the country until March.

> Show me a school where attendance is down six thousand fans per game the last two years. Take your time looking.

College basketball is different kids don't stay fans aren't as emotionally attached to players/teams.

> What does this issue have to do with our attendance problem, and why is it unique to U of L?

Louisville had no incoming freshman or players that excited the fanbase.

> Are you a slapd!ck, or do you take advice from them?

Live events are consumed much differently than 5 years ago. Younger generation doesn't go to live events like we did.

> Again, not unique to U of L.

Waiting in the next NCAA investigation. It is hard to get excited if you know the NCAA is going to do something in the near future.

> Anecdotally, no one tells me this. And I routinely talk to and hear from U of L fans such as this space where no one says this.

Many of these factors came on the scene within the last 3-4 years. Next year with higher expectations attendance may increase, but it wouldn't surprise me if it declined.

> Doesn't sound good, you're already hedging.

USC football saw a dramatic drop in attendance following sanctions being levied on the football program. Weird that even though Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush were long gone, that the fans there “would continue to punish current management for the performance of the prior group”.

USC went on probation post-Carroll in mid 2010. Their home football attendance that Fall was down 8%. Next year (2011), the two year decline measured 12%.

U of L's basketball attendance was down 19% last year and more than 20% over the past two years. About twice as much as USC...

Yeah, so that was a pretty dramatic drop for USC. Why was that? And to think they only had to deal with one scandal that was several years old. And strangely enough USC’s decline significantly exceeded the average decline in college football. So you might want to find better backup material for that theory.

Your example was in football, and I never said it didn't have an impact. It just doesn't explain the U of L phenomenon in basketball. Check your examples next time as I did.

And the USC stats don't quantify how much attrition was coach related. How many people stopped attending USC games who were big Pete Carroll fans? You don't know that...

Lol. The researchable data on a national championship coach that has two scandals back to back is limited. It is good know that should UofL have another high profile coach that fails miserably at monitoring his program we will have a good expectation of what the attendance impacts will be.

You remind me of one of those Pop-Up Tackling Dummies. You get laid out but then just keep popping back up. I suppose I admire your resilience. Anyways still rooting for you to get out of this rut.

Your evidence is inadequate (U of L is affected much more), and it's inconclusive (it doesn't disprove the Pitino effect).

You don't understand the argument so everyone else looks like a "dummy".

Said the real dummy.

“Doesn’t disprove the Pitino effect”...lol...way to pop back up tackling dummy. How about you prove this “Pitino effect”?

Reread the thread. All I did was present evidence of "Vince" apologists coming to that conclusion. And in the face of other steadfast "Vince" apologists like yourself in denial.

I never presented proof of anything, nor do I have to. Your regime is the one trying to fill six thousand empty seats. Exhibitions like today's should really help with that...

LOL...never can stay on topic.
