He does not speak for majority of Purdue's fanbase. Most all of us do not want him to leave, BUT, if he does we feel we will be able to attract another good coach.
I think that is all schools like Louisville and Purdue can ask for leave it in a better place than when they arrived. Both Brohm and Satterfield have done that. Maintaining that success is always the challenge for the next coach.

Hopefully. We do not have a good track record of two good coaches in a row. In my time, Jim Young (Peach, Bluebonnet, and Liberty Bowl wins) was followed by one bowl from 1982-96. Joe Tiller (10 bowls including the Outback, Capital One, and Rose Bowls) was followed by two bowls in 8 years and the worst coach in our history with Darrell Hazell.

Coaching searches are a crap shoot. Great when they work miserable when they don’t.

Oscar and Donna both were on record encouraging Jeff to come home 4 year ago, as it affects all three of their son’s families.
And I believe this, but Jeff is a 50 year old man and his answer during that Flaget thing indicates to me it was his decision alone to not bolt Purdue 4 years ago because it wasn't the right thing to do.
Even Oscar and Donna had to understand that. Btw, Oscar coached me 6th grade football at St Dennis and his twin brothers Donnie and Ronnie, who I were good friends with. We all grew up together in Shively. Great family.

I am not sure how much of a better place UofL is going to be in than when Scott arrived once the smoke clears. Depends on how many are lost on the recruiting class.

If you look at what's leftover, there are a ton of starters departing. We may like some of the depth but the next QB is also up in the air. The portal is already clipping the roster.

All you need to know about today is that:
Purdue fans are nervous.
Kentucky fans are pissed
Indiana fans are relieved
Cincinnati fans are melancholy and
Louisville fans are Excited again.
I'm a Purdue fan. Not nervous in the least. If you want him, have at it. We have the money to pay for a great coach and a better recruiter.

Yeah I see your point. You guys won 3 Conference games in the previous 4 years and went 9-39 before Brohm came there. I can see why you’re ready for new guy.

And you're in what's going to be an irrelevant conference. Have fun with that in the future. And keep letting your big boosters make decisions like hiring Payne for your basketball program. If anyone should be nervous, it should be Louisville...

After living in West Lafayette, it would be interesting to see what Influence Brian and Greg might have on Jeff’s opportunity to return home.
Nothing like being your own man...

We'll take him if he's available but I didn't have a problem with keeping Satterfield. He made a hell of a turnaround when he started working with the defense after the BC game.

If we don't get Brohm Josh Heird made a hell of a mistake letting Satterfield walk. We could do a lot worse. Look no farther than the complete failure we had hiring the basketball coach.

You don't know what or any adjustment Scott made on defense. Why don't you give credit to the players? Also if you want to give credit to Scott for the improved defense then you need to critize him for abandoning the offense. Shows you why he's not a P5 HC...

Yes. Here's why. The number 1 most important thing in college football coaching is consistency and continuity. We know he can coach. We know he knows football. We also know he is here forever unless he is a complete failure, which I doubt will happen. People are comparing records between him and Satterfield. Well, that's kind of like comparing Day to Harbaugh. As Harbaugh said "Some people start on third base and think they hit a triple." Brohm had to build that program from scratch and took them to the Big10 championship. Satterfield had all the tools and went 500. They are not the same.

Nah. The ACC will be fine. Plenty of powerhouse programs. They won't stay down forever. ACC has Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, and FSU all with championships. There are also solid winning programs like Pitt, VaTech and Louisville with a ton of history. Wake, Syracuse and NCState were all top 25 late in the year this year. I think the ACC will be ok.

Do I need to remind you that Notre Dame is NOT in the ACC? Or as an ACC fan, I guess you can't remember that...

Nice job of switching to basketball. I can definitely understand why that helps you cope at the moment but do you really want to compare trophy cases in basketball with Louisville?

I forgot who the National Champions were the last time Purdue made a Final Four in basketball in 1980 but maybe another poster on here can refresh my memory.

Can someone please ban this asshat? I got banned from their board for less snark than what he’s delivered just today.
Gotta love idiots like purduepat1969 that claim to not care about possibly losing a great coach like Brohm by spending all day on the Louisville message boards showing how angry they are.

Hopefully Pat can reminisce about Joe Tiller’s Motor City and Alamo Bowl trophies.

I would prefer to keep Brohm. Respect him as a coach, and as a man.

But very few Purdue grads that I know ever viewed him as a lifer here. I thought he would get offered an NFL HC gig at some point, and I think he would love to do that.

And the SEC has hired and fired 10 coaches worse than him since he’s been here.

And your 2nd paragraph is why most Louisville fans want Jeff as head coach here. He can be a lifer here as opposed to the next great thing that will have no real ties to the community and university.

That’s only one part of his appeal but it’s a big one.

This is What Cards fans have been going through since 1995.

7 coaches and none have stayed longer than 5 years. 3 were poached. 3 were fired. 1 was fired/quit.

Not hire up.

But definitely in a better place to hire well. We can show any coach they can succeed here. Unlike another place like Gloomington where coaches go to die.
Even Dook and Vandy have better recent success than IU.
