Overall we did a lot of good things Friday Night but like most of the close games the last 3 Seasons we did not walk away the victor. And the biggest reason was turnovers. The 10-play 65-yard drive in the
first QTR that ended with a fumble in the Red Zone was a Killer as was the fumble near mid-field late in the second half. A secondary issue was penalties of which there were 11. Way too many to beat a good team.
The loss of Wiggins in the first half hurt too. He already has two catches for 41 yards. This is the thinnest receiving core we have had in a long time. Hudson has not looked as good as advertised. I thought
his effort to catch a fourth down throw on a crossing pattern late in 4th QTR was poor. The pass was not a good one and he most likely would not have gotten the 1st down anyway because his route was short of the sticks. It was the second time in the game we needed completion to continue a drive that he ran his route short of the sticks as pointed out by Andre Ware on the broadcast. SS did point out after the game that he was playing injured. Not sure how big a role that played.
Thought Jordan did a really good job running the ball in the absence of Evans. Cooley was good also but I am glad the replay booth didn't stop the game to look at his carry just before he scored on the next play. Looked like the ball came out before he was down to me.
The INT MC threw on our last possession was a little frustrating. I thought he was going to get sacked and would have liked to see him throw the ball away. I realize there was less than
30 seconds left but that play was going nowhere from the start and it was first down. Stop the clock and move on to the next play.
Was surprised Quincy Riley didn't play more. Played a lot in the second half at UCF and seemed to do a good job. Did he get hurt?
Oh well, on to USF.
