The obvious big deal for UofL Athletics is the UCF Football game on campus today, but, there are two important women's athletics contests going on as well.

We'll start on Floyd Street, where Louisville Field Hockey brings in a very good #11 Virginia squad. It's the ACC opener and the Cavs are 4-1 on the season. UVA is outscoring their opponents 15-4 on this young season and has wins over Delaware, William and Mary, Towson and Miami (OH). They started their 2021 campaign with a loss at home to Penn State.

This one gets underway at 3 p.m. today and you could always tailgate at this one before heading south on Floyd St. for Football, The Cards are 6-0 on the season and #5 in the nation.

Superlatives:

• Louisville has outscored its first six foes by a combined total of 19-4 so far this season.

• Freshman goalkeeper Mila de Kuijer carries a 0.66 goals against average and leads the ACC with three shutouts on the season.

• Head coach Jutine Sowry achieved her 200th career victory on Sept. 10 when the Cardis defeated IU 1-0 at Trager Stadium.

Admission is free for Louisville FH, there is parking for $5 right across the street from Trager and, yes, they have a concession stand with snacks and drinks (including beer). ACCNX will show it on-line if you can't get there.

Tonight in Miami, FL, Louisville WSOC gets their ACC campaign underway against the Canes.

Coming off a tie and a loss...WSOC Cards are ready to get back in the win column with a victory at Miami in the ACC opener. This will be the sixth conference opener on the road for the Cards out of the last 8 seasons. The Cardinals are 4-3 in ACC opening matches. The Cardinals opened the 2020 ACC schedule with a 3-0 win at Miami. The Hurricanes are coming off a 1-0 loss to South Florida on Sunday. WSOC is averaging 2.5 goals per game while allowing opponents an average 1.17 goals a game.

UofM has scored only 5 goals on the season and are 3-3 on the year (2-2 at home). Louisville is 5-1-1 all-time against Miami. The Cardinals have won four straight matches and have outscored the Hurricanes a combined 8-0 in the last four. The last time the Cards lost to the Hurricanes was October 20, 2016.

On the attack, Canes junior Maria Jakobsdottir leads with three assists. Five different Canes have scored one goal each. On defense Melissa Dagenais in the net has compiled 21 saves and a .840 save percentage. Last season, Miami finished the season with a 1-11-1 record, including 0-8 in ACC play.

This season, Miami has played in-state opponents FAU, Florida and FIU and defeated all three. They fell to USF, Missouri and Lipscomb.

This one will be on the ACCNX and should start at 7 p.m.

Good luck to all three UofL squads in action today/tonight !!
