This will be what this WS appearance will be remembered for, not the perseverance the Cards showed to win two games.Work your ass off to get to this point and completely take yourself out of it in the first inning with a horrible pitching decision.
Plus, apparently TJ is not hurt and can pitch (since he just came in the game). Why not start him? Again, makes zero sense. Some of Dan's decisions are just head scratchers. Going with a dude with 9 plus ERA, hasn't pitched in a month and has not been good all year is just another one. Sean just said [paraphrasing] that we were running out of options is weak sauce especially for a guy who usually is brutally honest.
We're about to chase this guy. Gotta hope the next guy isn't sharpWe have to get this starter out of the game and try our luck with the bullpen..
Probably a hit away last inning. Gotta quit stranding runners and put something on the board..We're about to chase this guy. Gotta hope the next guy isn't sharp
No way that guy is getting a triple if ekj is running full outEddie looks like he's running in quicksand out there. Oh well..
Did CDM start him in the OF??Eddie looks like he's running in quicksand out there. Oh well..
Yes. But he did just nail that guy at 3rdDid CDM start him in the OF??
My biggest knock on him is his fielding. Im uneasy everytime a ball is hit his way..No way that guy is getting a triple if ekj is running full out
None of us have a clue how many days Forbes needs. I think Coach Mac knows his players better than us.Grass mowed. Glad I didn’t miss anything.
Staff day? In the CWS? If you don’t go all in to win there, why play the season?
This start was more than a head scratcher. It smells.
Odds are we wouldn’t beat CC anyway but it shouldn’t be
Same. After that loss to Pitt in the acc tournament, ending where we did today wasn't even a consideration. And it was a fun ride.Despite the events of the day,I feel an ounce or two of the joy that Mac feels right now. I'm thankful for the excitement the last few weeks have brought me.
Now, let's keep the core of guys that could make an even deeper run next season.
Thank you fellas!
In the post-game show Ethan stated a NC2A rule mandated a 5-day [?] rest period under circumstances that applied to Patrick. I think it was the amount of pitches Patrick had thrown the last time out.None of us have a clue how many days Forbes needs. I think Coach Mac knows his players better than us.
I think the coaching managed the pitching about as well as they could. It just caught up with them. They tried to give guys opportunities all year, outside the core group none of the guys could give them any confidence.
Thing is, I don't even remember the last time Hartman pitched. If not Forbes there were better options.. just a head scratcher..In the post-game show Ethan stated a NC2A rule mandated a 5-day [?] rest period under circumstances that applied to Patrick. Nobody asked Dan about his starting pitching decision in the post-game presser nor did Sean. Sean said he wasn't going to go there with that question and just let Dan talk about the season in general.
Surprised nobody from the national media asked Dan, I am guessing they [national press] just assumed that was one of our few options.
Yes.Cards you exceeded expectations..
Well, I will qualify that statement by saying there are a lot of posters on here that feel if you don't go to Omaha every year you're a failure and you need to be fired...Yes.
Im not saying there aren't some like that (I can't call one out right now) but for the most part people that I see on here just want solid baseball. We have gotten used to a certain brand of baseball and we don't want less.. The past few years, actually since around covid, the standard had definitely dropped . And this year a lot of our losses were self-inflicted and we looked in disarray, there were reasons to complain about players and coaches.. Kudos to all the coaches and players for turning things around just in time..Well, I will qualify that statement by saying there are a lot of posters on here that feel if you don't go to Omaha every year you're a failure and you need to be fired...
I think there are many here that could've predicted it. Does it make it wrong? IdkHonestly I don’t believe anyone could have predicted that performance, including Hartman or Dan and his staff.
