Coach Klenakis -- Nevada?

These things always seem to work themselves out, and it doesn't have to come in the form of a messy break-up or termination.

That would be our loss. Don't think that some of you understand how good that Klenakis is at coaching. Now the execution by our O-line the past two games was obviously lacking but execution is normally on the players (and they know it); however if you want to blame Klenakis, he can probably take the heat.
I do wonder, though, if being an OC impacted the time that he was able to spend with his O-line.

How good he is at coaching, huh? o_O We must be watching a different game/oline play. Our Oline cant figure out that they should probably block the defender in front of them. Probably has to do with some coaching I'd say. But hey, you seem to be more informed than the rest of us.

Exactly.

Your o-line should NEVER get beat by 3 defensive rushers. Happened so many times to the Cards

I think you shouldn't get beat 4 on 5, but it happens to everybody.

3 on 5 is totally inexcusable.

Me, Cardfanbudman, Gocds, WildCard, and Pushupman could be coached by Vince Lombardi and it wouldn't do any good.

If its a talent issue there is more blame to spread. Recruiting is a team effort.

So we can't coach up guys that are 2 and 3* recruits to be competent lineman? Eric Wood, Breno, among others would disagree. I'm not sure how some of you guys aren't correlating the coaching aspect to the bad oline play equation here. It may only be a small part but it has to factor in at some point. We can't get the "best" oline talent so we shouldn't bother coaching them up and we should stop blaming our staff for not getting them prepared?

Dont understand what youre saying Cis.

Everyone needs coaching up. Even 5 stars.
The ratio of 4/5 stars to 2/3 stars playing in the NFL is pretty much even.
Even in no lineman plays in the NFL, thats no excuse to block air or from the fetal position.

3? Hell Houston only needed one. Oliver spent more time in our backfield than Brandon Radcliff did. Klenakis couldn't figure out how to stop 1 guy who also happened to be a true freshman.

Yes, it is coaching along with a lack of talent on the O line. Hopefully Klenakis gets the Nevada job.

I sort of thought Rollem was implying that since we didn't have 5* type talent that there was no hope to coach them up. Actually, I'm not sure what he meant by his post. Its clear to me, that coaching is factoring into the equation. Can't just square all of the blame on the players.

Gotcha.
Its the coaches responsibility to recruit and sign the best players they can. No excuses just because theyre not 4/5 stars.

That UH debacle was worse than any of kragdud's losses. Unfreakinbelievable

I'm not making excuses for the coaches, but are we a run blocking or a pass blocking team. OL are usually better at one or the other if you know what type of QB you have. Which do you recruit for. Many times I have heard that CRP wants to use the running game to establish the pass. Maybe it's difficult when you have a read option QB. Maybe we have been recruiting lineman more for a NFL pocket passer and now need to adjust? I noticed that LJ seemed to have more passes knocked down at the line of scrimmage. Was he more committed to staying in the pocket and made the wrong reads?

I'm saying.....James Quick was a 4 or 5 star depending on the source. Just because somebody says they are 2, 3 or even 4 star players, does that mean they are? Is Quick??????

Maybe, just maybe these guys AIN'T ANY GOOD, or just not good enough for FBS FB. Maybe it's the old "You can't make Chicken Salad out of Chicken $#!t, no matter how good a cook you are".

That's why I said "if it's talent" issues, that's on ALL the coaches.

Is that clear enough?

And while you're replacing coaches on the way to your day job, don't forget, the offense hasn't been a well oiled machine for the last three games either. Lot of drops. Fumbles. Nothing but deep pass routes. No screens. You might wanna look at the WR. RB, and OC coaches while you're at it. ;)

that was the most maddening aspect of the losses. no adjustments by the guru calling the plays. He looked like a deer in the headlights rubbing his chin looking at the dennys menu to only dial up hail mary's.
unless a lot of things change next season will be worse.

The effort was there for the UK, the execution wasn't. Too many mistakes.

Houston was simply an execution of the team...........
