Clemson series pushed up a day.

Do we have any idea who's on the mound tonight 🤔 for us? I know West looked great Tuesday night- maybe? Jack Brown has not looked nearly as sharp lately. It's been crazy this season, but we're at one regular starter for the next 4 games. Maybe 3 if Eberle goes Tuesday instead of sliding up to Saturday.

I can't recall having issues like this at this point in the season. If ever the offense needs to carry the load,it's this weekend.

Don't think it was pushed up. I think it was always scheduled to start on Thursday due to it being Easter weekend.
Yep. Twitter chatter yesterday led me to believe the series was starting early. Schedule clearly says first game is today, 4/17.

The UL media guide " Game Notes " have not been updated and are currently unavailable at https://gocards.com/sports/2025/2/6/2025-baseball-media-center which is unusual. Typically, starting pitches for both squads are listed a few days before the game.

Correct. Team departed early Wednesday morning. 5 ACC games scheduled for tonight only 1 game scheduled for Sunday.

When that happens I typically go to the home website. Clemson has it listed as Casen Murphy (LHP) starting for us against Aidan Knaak (RHP). Knaak is 6-0, 3.96 ERA.

Murphy has a 5.91 ERA and is 0-1. I'm sure it's probably a bullpen day, all hands on deck.

Murphy's specialty is the off-speed stuff. Lord help us. IF he's on,he could keep the Tigers off balance. He got figured out last time he pitched and it wasn't pretty. Oh boy.

Prove me wrong Murph. I can't ever remember having a staff day on 2 of 3 games in the middle of an April weekend series😬

Not liking what I am reading. Last pitched against NCST and took the loss. Went 2 innings, pitch count 50, 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and zero strike outs.

It wasn’t good. He will have to show something different or…better.

Someone explain to me why it was necessary to pull Murphy? I will NEVER understand the college game mentality reference "Bull Pen" games.....You got a guy pitching well and some inexplicable thought process mandates you pull him. Clemson has yet to pull their starter.
Makes no sense.

It was part of the plan, apparently. He was going a maximum of three innings, which is the longest stint he’s had in any game this year.

Williams. Williams. Williams. Visit the mound with Wyatt. What does he say? Well, beings as ya can’t throw strikes we’sa gonna leave yas in and next pitch, justa throw it down the middle.

Mac owns this loss. Pulling Murphy and then Cutts; Bull Pen Game or not it was not smart. I guess the idea of tonight's game was not to win but pitch as many guys as we could. Really curious to hear Dan's post game show.

But why yank Cutts? Guy is on fire......29 pitches 22 strikes.

Probably wanted to save him for Saturday … we’re a little short of good arms at the moment. Frustrating game to sit through … not going to get 3 errors from Clemson very often. They were begging us to beat them tonight, and we just couldn’t do it.

The pitcher has to be better. Guy was sitting dead red last thing you can do is throw right down the middle. They don’t miss at this level.

It was the right call to pinch hit the lefty against the side arm righty. As a lefty you should love that arm angle. The only problem was the hitter wasn’t aggressive.

They played a better game but Clemson hit two 3 run shots. I swear our pitching get squared up a bunch.

Guy has been at Clemson for 3 years. It was his first HR.

He pinch hit Early for Baker, another lefty. Just an unfortunate at bat as Early takes 2 really low strikes. I actually think Baker likes that pitch but who knew. Just the wrong button.

They weren’t really low strikes, I’m sorry. At the knees. Even Moth was like “what are you waiting for?”

Idk,I guess they just looked low because of the angle of his arm. The first was a fastball and the second was a slider.
I would've stayed with Baker just because of that.

I went back and looked at Cutts performances. Yeah I couldn't see a pattern of why they decided to pull him. He has thrown anywhere from a low of 6 pitches to 58 pitches as recent as NC State. No magic numbers, lot of games with 45-47 pitches. 29 pitches was his 7th lowest number of pitches thrown in a game. My guess is they will try and get an inning or two from him on Sunday.

Should have taken G1. Might have cost us a W in the series. Clemson didn’t seem all that to me.
KInd of what they have been doing all season. I think Mahlstedt is now tied for the most saves in NCAA. He has a rubber arm, so if it's close we may see him again on Saturday.

I caught just a little bit of the game as I am out of town. Just no words. Mistakes - between errors and walks - it is getting old. Maybe my expectations are too high. The pitching staff needs a psychologist for real. I think most know my opinion of Williams at this point. The last four years is a pattern and if you don’t act to resolve a negative pattern then something is just wrong.

I like to call it clean baseball. We don’t do clean baseball, top to bottom. You can get by not playing clean with superior talent, but not when the margins are razor thin.

Maybe we are a year away? Wonder if we go with the young arms the rest of the way? What's the story with Forbes and Detmers? Need to upgrade the catcher position [behind Klein] during the off season.

I guess 2-1 isn’t too bad?? Read that Detmers is close. How much will be ised? Who knows…
