I have to say I'm surprised and disappointed we haven't seen Clarkson this season. If he has star potential, one would think he could get some "Wildcard" formations or goaline opportunities for a RPO.

I think Brohm could use a run threat QB as a change up, giving the offense more options. Some zone reads on those short yardage plays.

But it seems to me he must not be the obvious next big thing or he would get some play packages I would think?

Who thinks Brohm will have another tall, dropback QB from the portal to start next season? Or will Clarkson get the chance?

At some point, Brohm is going to have to give chances to the current backups on the team. Sure you want them to earn their starting spots, but it just doesn’t make sense for him to continue to sit Clarkson, Adams and Allen for next season. they all know the system.

Current QB hasn’t justified less minutes. He’s actually pretty good.
It's not about being justified. It's about what helps the team win. In no way am I saying Shough should yield snaps because of his performance. The fact is though he's not fleet of foot and there's times when a RPO can come in handy.

It's more about Clarkson than Shough. He may not be a RPO type QB. He's rarely played so I don't know. I know he's not tall but I really don't have a clue what he does best at quarterbacking.

Which is surprising and disappointing which is what my post was about.

I don't think the team winning has anything to do with QB play. What I see is play calling and defensive scheme. We are starting the game in the hole every time because of preparation. Our team relies on "halftime adjustments". F that. Be prepared before the game starts and stop being so predictable.

Okay, let me try again. What I'm saying is how good is Clarkson? Fans have anticipated him being maybe the next Jordan Travis ever since his recruitment.

He was expected to see the field at some point if he is as good as advertised. Would Brohm keep someone like Travis on the bench but for only garbage time?

I'm not suggesting giving Clarkson a series or two during a close game. Shough is the man and is not the reason for any of the losses. However, down near the goal line a running QB can open things up and would help this team score TD's. Same with all these 4th and 1 we can't seem to convert.

Now if Clarkson isn't ready for that role or isn't much of a running threat I don't know because he rarely plays. If he isn't then sitting on the bench is the right call. My point is I'm disappointed that he apparently isn't good enough for that small role.

I have wondered myself, but that qualification needs to be determined by our staff during the week at practices.

Jeff and Brian know what Clarkson can do and what he can’t do.

Did you watch the Ravens game yesterday? Ravens first drive. 4th and 1 on the goal line, Harbaugh decides to get cute, pulls Lamar off the field and only has Henry in the backfield. Direct snap and Henry loses 2 yards...

You don't think the minute Slough is not lined up at QB and another QB is that it's likely to be a run or QB sneak? What's the chance of a newly inserted QB who hasn't played since the 1st or 2nd game to mishandle or fumble the snap? I have seen it played out too many times. Brohm is still coaching like we have something to play for this year, not next. I tend to agree.
