Chris Jones charged with rape and sodomy

Well I guess there goes the privacy issue I was preaching regarding Jones after he got the boot from the team. This is public record and he's been accused of a crime. No such thing as HIS business anymore. Now it's a legal matter and he'll have his day in court.

Best of luck Chris. You're going to need it.

I don't understand why it matters to the UofL basketball team now? Jones was kicked off the team last Sunday morning. The only was this goes further south for the team is if there were other players who are still on the roster involved. I hope that's not the case.

Or a coach or coaches who knew about comparable previous behavior and covered it up (Jones's problems didn't just spontaneously appear overnight). There's a small but still scary chance that the impending police investigation could get very, very ugly very, very quickly, especially since they're gonna throw the book at Jones over this and so he'll be looking to talk at every opportunity to try to reduce what's undoubtedly gonna be a lengthy sentence. :/

First of all legally we would assume (and hope) it wouldn't have implications to anyone associated with the university. But to think this won't be stain on the program or a distraction would be foolish. It will be the first thing asked about in press conferences, there will be articles written about Pitino recruiting "at-risk" guys, there will be articles talking about this and the university giving a scholarship to Devontre Fields.

When did the two alleged (as of the morning of 2/26 it is still important to say that word) rapes occur?

Edit: Nevermind - I see that the alleged assaults happened late Saturday, hospitalized on Sunday, dismissed on Sunday (probably not a coincidence), and the warrant signed today (Thursday).

It's pretty clear why Rick was "done" with Chris and why the University was not able to make comment.

Yyyyyyup.

L1C4, he's one of ours.

He may be 23, but he never grew up...this KID was given a great opportunity and he didn't have the ability to overcome his proclivity for anger and violence...you could see glimpses of this on the court, but never in my life would I have thought he was capable of this inhumane abusive abhorrent act.

My prayers are with these young women and their recovery process.

The article indicated he was a flight risk...I presume he is not in costudy? Does anyone know if he is behind bars?

I have a real problem with that line of thinking Hank unless Pitino knew Jones was a high risk and took him in spite of it. I don't know why this is anyone's fault not named Chris Jones? When are we going to hold individuals accountable for their own actions? I honestly don't know anything about Chris Jones other than he was the junior college player of the year and Pitino offered him a scholarship to play at UofL. Was Jones a troublemaker beforehand? Serious question. I hadn't heard anything like that about Jones. All I heard was he was a tough young man who played with a bulldog mentality.

Regarding Fields, that's football and that's Petrino. We all knew what were getting with Bobby Petrino. He is who he is and TJ accepted him for who he is when he hired him for the second time. That's beyond my control. All I can do is choose to support the University of Louisville athletic department or choose not to. That's the only control I have over this situation.

According to the warrants, Jones raped and sodomized a woman on Sunday
and was able to identify Jones "because she recognized him as a
University of Louisville basketball player" and he told her his name.
That woman was examined at the university, one warrant says.

A
second warrant says Jones, along with two other people, forced a woman
to have intercourse and oral sex. She also identified Jones as a U of L
player, according to the warrant. She was taken to University Hospital,
where she was treated.

Along with two other people...

First and foremost by a wide margin, prayers to the alleged (at this point) victims in these heinous crimes. I pray for them the strength, courage, and support to see them forward from this horrific incident in their lives. If true, I hope Chris Jones pleads guilty to spare them the trauma of reliving their personal tragedies.

You apparently missed this part:

U of L police Det. John Tarter took out the criminal complaints against Jones, according to the warrants. Tarter also filed complaints on Wednesday against Jalen D. Tilford and Tyvon Walker, both of whom allegedly raped a woman on Sunday. The complaints filed against those two men indicate three people were involved in the alleged rape but don't specifically mention Jones.

Per twitter, these two WILL be co-defendants in Chris Jones's case.

Would hat be this Jalen D. Tilford? U of L student?

He missed that part because he was still holding out hope the other 2 were also members of the team or maybe he was hoping it was 2 of the coaches with maybe Pitino himself being involved. Who freaking knows why Mr 33 post person was painting such a bleak looking picture. It's the internet baby!!!!

People on here were thinking another shoe would drop. I sure didn't expect it to be a bulldozer. I am on record for never really liking the kid but never thought it would come to something this ugly. My heart and prayers go out to the victims as for him being part of the family? He lost that right. I realize that this has yet to go to trial so his guilt or innocence has yet to be decided. The only thing this has done is confirm my feelings about the kid. Bad news young man, and bad news for our program.

You think this bleak picture has to be "painted?" I'm sick to death over this. Maybe if you ever follow a basketball program heart and soul like I have with the Cards for 31 years you'll know what that feels like (want me to post ticket stubs? I've kept them all in an envelope dating back to around 1991). Probably not though. You and a bunch of other folks on this board seem way more concerned with "LPT" and "dur, look how authoritative i am, i have a high post count!!!" than the reputation of U of L basketball.

I sincerely hope that this board isn't representative of the rest of our fanbase nowadays. I'm stuck in Pulaski Co. with virtually no RL Lousiville fans to discuss things with so I really don't know. At any rate this place isn't for me. I'd rather have no discussion than the crap that this board not only allows but seems to encourage (I wonder how much this board's traffic suffers because of people like me who get driven away at the drop of a hat?).

Take care y'all.

You sure hope, don't you? People like you make me sick; using something like this for fodder to point & laugh at your rivals. Yes I know Card fans do it to. That makes me sick as well. Two women were assaulted and these 3 guys allegedly did it. Two lives were victimized and it looks like 3 dudes are the alleged perpetrators. That's all that really matters here.

This story (the warrants & everything behind them) is less than a few hours old. The fact that you created a new username just to come over here and hope & pray that there's more to this shows me that you could not care less about these victimes and wouldn't piss on these victims if they were on fire.
It never takes the weaker of the weak to rear their weak ass heads above the pond scum when something like this unfolds. I'm sure some of them are having a grand old time regarding this issue while ignoring their own dirty laundry and most importantly, the victims of this crime.

Just exactly what do you want people over here to do about all this?

Nobody is defending his actions. He'll get what he deserves. Fans have no control over this situation.

Image was not sky high to begin with, it bottomed out when we held on to Pitino during his situation. Why do you care what other people think anyway? Are you incredibly insecure?

If you feel the current regime has turned it's back on all that is right you are certainly welcome to abandon supporting to the program. Is that what you're seeking? Advice?

Jones is a bad person and he will get what he deserves. What else do you need here Skywarp?

Just watched live courtroom video. Jones had plead not guilty and will be released on home incarceration limitations. Jones has withdrawn from classes to focus on his case. Attorney states Jones has never been arrested before, and that he has in touch with and cooperated fully with police since Sunday morning. Attorney asks for protect and produce order, from UofL, for hallway video that he feels will work in Jone's favor.

I've already said this on other boards, but the University and the coaches can't control the players. All they can control is their response to situations like this one. At least our program has the morals to make the right choices when these players step out of line and they enforce the rules, unlike other programs. Regardless of making the right choice, this is a stain on the program and it hurts a lot as a fan. Not only from the grotesque and public nature of it, but also the fact that we have come from such fine moral character 2-3 years ago, to back to back years of dismissals and questionable players.

My heart goes out to the victims, Chris Jones will get what he deserves, and the team needs to move on, understand he doesn't deserve their concern or worry because of how he let everyone down.

First of all, they are allegations.

They have to be proven.

To anyway hint of Coach Pitino condoning this , or bringing in a 'known' rapist is f#@$+×g foolish and pathetic.

To the SuCkS fans who think this is a 'stain' on the program. You need to remember Lloyd Tubman.

Hell Chuck Hayes had a whisper campaign going on, against him about rape.

Everyone let the justice system play out. He might be innocent.

WOW. Boy this sure has escalated strangely. We go from a threatening(bland) text to his GF, to rape and sodomy on 2 completely different women with two other guys? I'm sorry, but how did they think John Lucas could help here. They release CJ needs help with his anger issues? This smells funny.

My prayers go our to all the players in this case.

That's top notch advice Kerry but you know not many are going to actually follow it. I wish people would let the system work before passing judgement on what he allegedly has done, but that doesn't fit the agenda of those chanting the gloom and doom stain angle.

So a guy working his @ss off for the next level is a rapist? A month or so before is dreams are realized and he has to rape 2 women. This stinks like chit.

I agree, it does need to be played out. If he had a chick coming and trashing his apartment, I wouldn't doubt if he some crazy broads that are just out to ruin his reputation. Not saying he is an angel.

Yes. It might be wise to not rush to judgment in this case. Hopefully the truth will come out, whatever that may be.

Yeah Cue, Villian

99% of the public were 1000% sure that the duke lacrosse team raped those strippers.

Im done with this.
