Why Boston College Will Win
Turnovers. Louisville gives them up, Boston College doesn’t.
This should be a relatively even game with a few different mood and momentum swings, but BC has only lost the turnover battle once in four games and with just three giveaways overall. Louisville is -4 overall so far with seven giveaways so far.
As a program, UofL has lost its last ten games against FBS teams when giving the ball away two times or more. Boston College has generated multiple takeaways three times this year – and won all three games.
The Eagles are 1-4 in their last five games when not forcing more than one takeaway – they’ll get at least two this week.
On the defensive side, BC doesn’t have a pass rush, but it’s good at getting into the backfield. Louisville’s O line has a problem when it comes to tackles for loss.

The downfield passing game is working.
There were problems in the opener against Notre Dame, but since then the passing attack is averaging over ten yards per pass with nine touchdowns and just one pick in the last three games.
Malik Cunningham came on against Florida State with Jawon Pass banged up with a foot injury, and both of them are expected to be in the mix despite being banged up. Cunningham’s dinged ankle is supposedly fine.
The BC secondary has been a disaster. When Rutgers is throwing on you for over 300 yards, there’s a problem.
The Eagles are 12th among ACC teams in passing yards allowed, giving up 230 or more in four of the five games.
What’s Going To Happen
Is this when Louisville can put it all together against decent team? The passing attack should work, and the run defense will load up to try bottling up AJ Dillon, but it’ll come down to the mistakes. Three Louisville turnovers will make the difference.
