Cards Will Face Creighton Thursday

They have a 7' app. 240 center. Leading scorer, app. 90 blocked shots, a 6' 10" app. same weight back-up. A 6' 10" forward, a 6' 6" forward w/6' 8" backup, 6' 1" & 6' 2" shooting guards (ea. avg. 16 1/2 points p. game). They play 8 - 9 guys. They split w/St. John's in reg. season, lost in the finals to them in the tournament. Beat UConn twice, lost to Alabama by 8, beat Kansas and split with Marquette. As Knucklehank stated, their Center is their star and is a load. Again, a very tough opening round opponent. We'll need to play well to win. If we're hitting from the outside, that would definitely help.

Good team that doesn't foul or turn the ball over. They shoot a lot of 3's and play a lot through the center. He plays 3 feet in front of the basket and protects the paint! They are a well coached, good team!

One positive is that Kalkenbrenner is not mobile enough to come out high and disrupt our passing game the way that Duke's big men did. If he does come out, blow by them on the drive or lob to Scott on the back end. It will be a tough game but one we can win.

I'll lay the 2.5 and take the Cards!

Duke was able to defend the lob and completely take that away from us. Scott cannot get into foul trouble. If Reyne can't go, just throw Waterman, Rooths, Frank at Kallbrenner. Don't think Traore can guard him.

I think Auburn is losing to the Creighton/Louisville winner.

I agree with this or let me say it would not surprise me if the Creighton/Louisville winner beat Auburn. Injury or no injury to their starting PG Auburn has not looked right over the last several games. Broome is a problem to deal with though. When Auburn is defending well and running the floor they look unstoppable. They can score the ball.

Creighton is a solid team that will present several challenges for Louisville. Creighton can spread floor and play inside-out. They have solid guards that can shoot it and a nice big man. Well coached team that is going to run their stuff and not be rattled. A very winnable game but I hate this matchup and the early tip time for Louisville.

The best thing I can say about the BluJays is that they 'Ain't from Kansas brother"(Best Hulk Hogan voice")...but from Nebraska....they like corn...not spinach...they ain't no Popeye the Sailor Man dude!'

In the Battle of the Birds...Cards pop that corn...shiver me timbers..and .kick their blue azz back to Omaha with a big time L.🥶:p:rolleyes:

Love the humor Mayoman! It appears that all the usual suspect are picking the Blue Jays, beginning with Joe Lunardi.

In truth, Creighton is a very good basketball team and a most formidable opponent on paper as well as in real life. The observations in this thread are accurate and insightful.

Kalkenbrenner is huge, not just tall but at 240 lbs., his interior presence on both ends of the court will require double teams, and that will result in open 3s opportunities. It will be interesting how successful he can be defending UL when they play man-to-man. I expect they will try to slow the tempo, and play as much zone as possible as a way to keep Kalkenbrenner in the paint.

Duke’s size inside was a serous problem for us, and Creighton has a bevy of bigs on the roster who I suspect will try to exploit Scott’s propensity for foul trouble. Conversely, I can see Creighton struggling to defend our speed and quickness.
