Bellarmine will announce their transition to D-I soon. The 2019-20 season will be their last season of D-II sports. They will be joining the Atlantic Sun Conference. Should be interesting.
Thought the same. While it brings many positives there will be some big changes. However, the level will not demand the Bellarmine fans to fork over the cash like Power 5 teams demand.Knight fans better get their checkbooks out. $$. Division I comes with a price.
I disagree about your take on facilities. First of all the jump to D-I will be challenging enough, I don’t think Bellarmine will be in any hurry to schedule OOC games with UofL, IU, WKU or the fight’n kitties. And, if they want big payday games I believe they’re realistic enough to know they’ll get no home games.Another issue for Bellarmine U going D1 is that their facilities (other than LaCrosse and soccer) are less than stellar. So this will require them to go on the road for the vast majority of their OOC D1 schedule. Can you imagine UofL going to Newburg Rd. To play a baseball or softball game? And that’s just one example. Yes, Bellarmine U fans should get ready to “pony” up their bucks for this move. Or will Xavier or WKU come to Knights Hall to play basketball? Perhaps they’ll get Freedom Hall ready for some OOC games? Oh please, give me a break.

That could lead to a Louisville series...Freedom Hall is an option, although it's way too big. I went to the last game they played there (Cincy) a couple years ago, and it was maybe a third full.
Compared to their current arena, The Hall is not in that bad a condition. They should probably erect those huge black curtains in the endzones to get the capacity down to something reasonable.
Don’t think you’ll ever see the Cards play in Freedom Hall again. That could lead to a Louisville series...
Louisville home games in The Yum, Bellarmine hosts games in Freedom Hall(but treated as neutral site)....you'd probably get a big gate from fans wanting to play another game in Freedom Hall...Could call it the Crum Classic?
Or would that be too strange to go back and play?
Probably all sports...the A-Sun doesn't sponsor football so it's the right fit. They also sponsor lacrosse .are they going d1 in all sports or jsut some. over 300 d1 bball teams, 120 football. not all schools particiapte at same levels. any link on this news

You sure do mention him a lot. He seems to live rent free in your mind.U of L already plays in arenas no worse than Freedom Hall. We play in makeshift arenas every November that these exempt games are played in the Caribbean.
I could easily see us playing "road" games with Bellarmine at Freedom Hall. That would avert paying Bellarmine for no-return games at Bailout Arena. Maybe a 2-for-1 arrangement in which U of L also gets some of the gate at Freedom Hall.
"Vince" needs to study anything that nets us more money...

Cards will not be playing Bellarmine at Freedom Hall. That will not happen. Bellarmine can get all the out of conference games they want with UofL but they’ll be at The Yum. Campbellsville is NAIA. NAIA is not exactly a “move up” for Bellarmine from D-II. Get real.
I don't hate anyone, even you. Gives the target too much credit. But there's nothing "arbiitrary" about it...You arbitrarily hate him. It’s “weird”.
You PAY Bellarmine to play no-return games. It benefits you to no longer have to pay that. You have to analyze the breakeven point, which "Vince" should know how to do.Cards will not be playing Bellarmine at Freedom Hall. That will not happen. Yeah, yeah, just like Nwora & Enoch are not coming back. Blah, blah, blah. Louisville will play Bellarmine at The Yum, Freedom Hall home game for Bellarmine will never happen. You PAY Bellarmine to play no-return games. It benefits you to no longer have to pay that. Hope that explains it better...
Wrong again. Pretty sure (99.9%) that UofL never competed in the NAIA. They did win the NAIB National Tourney in 1948. My dad actually had a friend (Oz Johnson) that played on that team.Yeah, I didn’t realize that CU was NAIA. But they’ve been successful with that move. Let us remember that UofL was NAIA back in the ‘40s and won a National Title in that grouping. All I’m saying is that the road to D1 won’t be as easy, or profitable, as many BU fans think it’s going to be. Good luck to Bellarmine.

That's only a function of how you negotiate the contract. Did U of L and Alabama split the football revenue in Orlando 50-50?...Giving them a return game means that we lose out on the profit of having said home game...
I always have U of L's long term interests at heart, although I have no idea what that has to do with the subject. Are you trying to change it again?......Its nice to see you using "you" now. Are you finally admitting that you no longer have the program's best interests at heart?

No one questions that most of the fans who show up at a large Louisville venue are U of L fans. It's up to "Vince" to make sure U of L gets their fair share of that. The financials aren't dependent on whose name is on the scoreboard as the "home" team.

It is not different. It's about a David-playing-Goliath situation. This isn't about a neutral site game. You and others are arguing that U of L wouldn't play a "road" game at The Hall in something like a 2-for-1 deal. The game in Orlando is a little bit different. The teams got flat rates to pay in the game. Plus the chance to beat Bama would have been huge for the football program even if the team made less money than they would have with a home game.
Nobody is going to be jumping to pay UofL and Bellarmine millions to play a neutral site game in Freedom Hall. Its hard to think for an advantage to making that idea worthwhile. You could make it a Bellarmine home game and split the revenue but if the split pays them less than they would have made just playing at the Yum, is it worth it? If we do it and make than we normally would just paying Bellarmine to come to the Yum, what's the benefit for us...
You continue to show that you don't have a clue about me or my motives, except that I think "Vince" is a superficial jerk. He could still be a good AD, although that's increasingly unlikely......Other than trying to criticize Tyra, what benefit do you see in doing something like this? I wasn't trying to change any subject. Along with just flat our ignoring evidence that goes against your argument, and putting out misleading data, changing the subject is one of your tactics. Stop acting like you have the program's best interests at heart. Your only interest is getting rid of Tyra because of who hired him. If we are rolling in 5 years like before you will still be coming up with conspiracy theories to take down the new admin.

And you can't resolve that until you know how much U of L is paying Bellarmine for an annual exhibition game. If it's $250,000 per game, that's $0.75 million over a three-year period. That starts getting into the realm of what a home game is worth to U of L, and it doesn't include revenue that U of L could negotiate from a game at the KFEC.
Again, you're supposed to have an AD who knows how to do that calculation...

Davenport was asked about a series with UofL last night on his talk show. He basically said that The Yum was the best arena that he had ever been in. He indicated that’s where future games will be played if they play UofL.It is not different. It's about a David-playing-Goliath situation. This isn't about a neutral site game. All of this is irrelevant and shows what you don't know... "Early season neutral site" games are typically funded by television, not what the schools are making from the game operationally. U of L and Bellarmine isn't a TV draw outside this market. Its very different. Neutral site football games early in the season have proven to be profitable for the programs that do them. Its why major programs continue to play in them. The neutral site game against Bellarmine is something you've made up and told us is profitable so you can criticize Tyra for not doing so. How often do high major bball programs give home games to teams on the level of Bellarmine? Our football program is a lot closer to Bama's than Bellarmine's bball program is to ours.
How great of a deal is the KFEC going to give UofL? Freedom Hall is smaller than the Yum and has less suites so the possible profit is lower anyhow. Its not a marquee opponent so it isn't like a ton of fans are going to pay a premium to watch UofL play Bellarmine. We pay not have to play Bellarmine directly but they are going to expect something from the deal. What incentive do they have to take less than they would for just playing in the Yum? Its not like it would be a true home game and the crowd would likely be just as hostile against them as a Yum crowd would so is being able to wear white against UofL really worth it?
