Something alot of the fanbase is overlooking small but very significant for the program . Unless i'm wrong this is the first team championship trophy this BB program has won outright since 2013. Great job guys we haven't been able to say we a mens BB champion in good while feels good!.

Can’t be true. Haven’t we won Billy Minardi Tournament a few times.

Either way it was beautiful to watch.

The 51-25 rebounding margin was the largest for the Cards since February 10, 1986 against Va Tech according to Eric Crawford.

Let that sink in and they did against a good team.

I don't think they will be ranked there are still too many unbeaten teams. I believe they will receive some votes though. Two wins over teams that were getting votes on a neutral floor is a good week.

Well then it's a total bias. If any other traditional power had as many good players as Louisville has would easily be ranked, especially after beating Mississippi State and Maryland.

It's not like the Catds are some big overachiever, they are picked 6th in the ACC. What would be the reason not to rank them? Again, the Louisville roster on North Carolina or Villanova and they would be in the top 20.

Neither Miss St or Maryland were ranked although they both received votes. Oh.. and you do know we lost to Furman on our home court?

Give it time, regardless of early wins or losses …… coaches and media alike will start to see the potential for any roster like UL that is playing 11 or 12 kids with little if any drop off in skill and contribution.

Just a guess...

They will get votes which means they could be anywhere between 26-40.

They could sneak into the poll.

It's splitting hairs there is alot of parity.

we are getting better. we are among 4 ACC teams in the top 70 in power rankings, according to ESPN.
but our offense is shooting in the 30% range and jacking up 25+ 3 pointers a game. so i have to agree with the rankings

I am not worried about the rankings if we take care of business we will be there. If this team continues to improve and the chemistry works this team has a lot of potential.

I know rankings in hoops doesn't mean anything in terms of post season positioning, but it does matter in perception for fans and recruits, especially if you're a traditional winning program.

Louisville should be ranked and they're not in my opinion due to a bias against the program. The Cards weren't expected to win the Bahamas tournament but they did beating a couple of good teams, not cupcakes.

They received just two votes? That is ridiculous. I'm even more convinced it's a bias and even if they beat Michigan State whose roster in my opinion is not as talented as Louisville, still probably wouldn't get them ranked.

How many big conference schools with long traditions of winning have a 10 man roster of experienced and talented players and are 5 and 1 with a holiday tournament title not ranked?

The program is not being viewed in terms of it's long standing position as a top 6 or top 7 program. There is no longer a HOF coach in charge.

The program is seen as being on fire with a lot of problems, at worst. At best, the program is seen as trying to move forward from all the problems. It's probably somewhere in between.

They started unranked because they had to replace both guards they relied heavily on, off an NIT team..and they stitched the roster together. They lost to Furman at home, and beat a few middling programs. Furman turned around and lost a few games. It's a real bad loss. If the Cards were undefeated they'd probably be T20-25 right now.

Miss St didn't look very good. Maryland looks really average. I'm happy with the wins but they aren't the kind of wins that send a team getting no votes one week into the poll the next. I like how they looked last week. If they keep playing that way they will eventually get into the poll.

If they beat Mich St they will go into the poll next week IMO.

Michigan State has had problems with turnovers. both of their guards had 3 a piece last game.
so could be a good game for Jarrod West defensively.
we will have Mack back.

This early in a season its not so much who you lost to or who you have beaten when it comes to rankings. There are teams who haven't beaten anyone but the worst cupcakes and they're ranked.

It's more about perception and the eye test. Does the team look like a NCAA tournament team? Does it look like a ranked team?

Louisville isn't ranked today because there was no perception pre season that they would be a ranked team. The six newcomers didn't change a thing about a team left out of the tournament.

And since Louisville basketball is not exactly in great standing, it was easy to just ignore them. Then they lost to Furman. Chris Mack missing the 6 games should mitigate the loss a little bit.

Then they win the Bahamas over two tournament level teams that even most Cards fans didn't predict.

This garnered two lousy votes. No one wants to vote for Louisville until they have to.

Just my opinion fellas. I could be mistaken.

There is a lot of truth in your post. Preseason rankings are a combination of what a program has on the roster and what it's accomplished lately. Employing a highly successful HC will give a program more cred with voters that are guessing without seeing any team play. If you have a perceived top coach voters will give benefit of the doubt.

This will be the season that has been percolating ever since Denny Crum made his statement about “Parity having been reached in college basketball”.

Looking at the early scores, upsets and so much equality in talent across the country ……. I expect the teams that survive their respective conferences will be the ones with the most depth. It is the primary reason that I have been so bullish on this UL team. Injuries plague most every school and so many schools experience fatigue as they get to tournament time. The teams that can play solid and aggressive defense for 40 minutes will have the best chance for advancing.
