Archie Miller is making the leap from Dayton to Indiana to become the Hoosiers' new basketball coach, it was announced Saturday.

"I am honored to be the head coach at Indiana University," Miller said Saturday in a statement. "IU is one of the greatest basketball programs and academic institutions in the country, and I cannot wait to get started. With peerless fan support, outstanding facilities and tradition, a beautiful campus, and located in one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country, IU is a dream destination for me and my family."

Sources told ESPN that Miller has agreed to a seven-year deal to replace Tom Crean, who was dismissed by the Hoosiers on March 16 after nine seasons. A press conference will be held Monday in Bloomington, Indiana.

Certainly not the big and splashy hire most of them were pining for. I think he'll win games there but Tom Crean won lots of games there. The IU job isn't nearly the job it was 25+ years ago.

Almost every IU bball fan wanted Billy Donovan...this hire is way below what a Donovan hire would've been.

You were only fooling yourself if you thought Billy Donovan was interested in that job. You can wish for the best all you want but then reality needs to take over. I had not heard that Billy wants to come back to college and even if he did it may only be at 1 or 2 places and IU was not one of them. According to CRP, Billy has zero interest in returning to college right now."

In a way I kinda wish they would have hired Alford. Those two are made for each other, neither can get by the sweet 16. But since Alford is staying, that's good because other schools can definitely close the gap on the NC wins. But it does take away a good prospect for a coach from a school like UL/UK down the road.

Did Crean really get a chance. Going from Crean to Archie Miller might be a downgrade instead of an upgrade.

I's a good hire. Just about the best they could hope for.

I doubt this hire puts fear into the hearts of IU's opponents, but down the road who knows? It'll be interesting to see where they are in 3 years.

Miller will prove to be an amazing hire. IU b ball will now finally be back

I actually hope Archie Miller does well at IU. It would be nice to have IU back in the mix year in and year out. The IU brand has fallen way off so he has his hands full.

It seems like IU should have waited and considered Chris Mack. He may not be interested though.

There are not that many options out there though really. Why not take a chance on Miller.

Partially joking, but Frank Martin's stock is pretty high right now.
