Louisville at Marshall was "the rat" Niedermeyer....err....Pat Forde's trap game of the year.
Marshall has had our number 4 consecutive losses, we need to pay attention this week and execute properly in all phases.
Those losses have nothing to do with this season's teams. FSU was 14-2 against the Cards and what did that matter?
Marshall beat the Cards in two bowl games when they had Chad Pennington and Bryon Leftwich. Cards were nowhere near where they are now. The last loss I think was Teddy Bridgewater's 1st career start.
This game should look like the Syracuse game. 62-23.
It still could be. Smoking FSU, playing Marshall after they got smoked by Akron with Clemson coming up has trap game written all over it IF the kids lose focus. They must maintain focus regardless who they're playing. This team has a chance to be very special. They did pretty good keeping focus after halftime this past Saturday. Maybe I should be but I'm not too concerned about Marshall

This goes without saying. This group is a focused unit and Petrino won't let them overlook anybody. Of course anything can happen in sports but I can't see how Marshall stays within 30 points. The team had FSU in its sights when they went to Syracuse and it was domination.

So what! What does those losses have to do with the current teams? Nothing! What's more relevant is Marshall just gave up 65 points to Akron. I just don't get why it matters that Marshall used to be a very good team when Louisville was just a decent team. That is not the case here in 2016.
I just hold the belief that overlooking them is just plain STUPID. We are their superbowl and beating us would make their season.

To begin with, I'm no bandwagon fan. I've been going to games since the early 90's. Also, it doesn't matter one bit if fans overlook any team. The players and coaches I assure you hold that responsibility and like I've said repeatedly, I don't see that being a issue.
Marshall will be fired up no doubt. Just like they would be if Alabama or Ohio State were visiting. Louisville fans should be confident just like Crimson Tide and Buckeyes fans would be. Are we all just bandwagon fans?
I'm actually glad we've got Marshall at their house. Now, I think this team is beyond a complete mental breakdown, but, a hostile environment will offer a good reminder. Marshall has had this game marked on their calendar for a while. Huge opportunity for them to knock off a top 5, P5 team. The Akron loss aside, a game the Herd perhaps overlooked as UofL looms, they don't lose at home often.

I wonder how many other teams would sweep that home schedule? And Marshall has lost most of their top players from that team, especially on defense. Call me crazy, but that's right up the Cards ally.

And I'm trying to offer a lot of respect for the 3rd ranked Cardinals. Would Ohio State fans fret over Marshall? How about FSU? I'm ready for Cards fans to think like a top 5 team and not worrying about a average team who happened to beat us years ago.
I don't need to be reminded that upsets happen and that teams sometimes overlook their opponents. But I just don't see that with this team and I shouldn't be called a bandwagon fan for believing it.

not only did I see the cards whipping fsu, I posted the score prediction, so your nobody saw that stance is untrue.
We all love our cards and you are spot on there, we need to not ever get ahead of ourselves and hold the belief that we are gods gift to football either. FSU by all accounts have better talent across the board and we smoked them, who is to say Marshall does not feel the same way?

Why is it disrespectful if fans believe the Cards will win this game? Do we have to give Marshall some percent the chance so we're respecting them? I have said multiple times anything is possible in sports and a Cards loss would not be unprecedented. I just don't concur that Marshall is a problem because they beat Cards teams in the past. That means NOTHING! Now if we we're playing USF or Cincinnati I would be a bit more nervous, and in your world, respectful.

as fans we can do as we wish, but to simply ignore the fact Marshall has had our number and ignore them as a team and simply talk about next games is silly. we need to give Marshall the full respect and attention they deserve for handing us our heads four consecutive times.

it is possible we are both saying the same thing and just have 2 different ways of portraying it.
We have to focus one game at a time and execute, and prayerfully stay healthy.

No, it's not bad. It's good. It's healthy. It's respectful, humble, and yet confident all at the same time. I feel the same way. The whole team played very well, yet they can still play better. Jackson can be more accurate throwing the long ball with better touch. The run defense can improve and the best part is it's just 3 games deep and we all see the potential this team has. The entire COUNTRY sees it now. How they handle success WILL define them as a team IMO. We've already seen how to reacted to pressure. That pressure is going to continue to build with each win. You can bet on that.
How many times do I have to say it? I'm a fan! I'm not a coach or player. If I knew players or coaches were talking like the Marshall game was easy I would be sounding like you. They have to respect Marshall, not me. And it's my assertion that they will and that's why I believe the Cards will win big. That's all there is to it. If you're worried that's fine.
To hear Lamar give his self a "D" grade for the FSU game is refreshing. It is scary to consider this team can play a lot better than it did, but in actuality, they can. I hope we can get through the games cleaner and without injury because I am nit sure about the quality of depth.
Offensively we can run better routes and catch the ball cleaner which opens up the passing game.
defensively we can always react faster and tackle better as a whole. The way we rallied to the ball is refreshing.

Hey, that's cool. I will always go into a game with some apprehension. I've seen big upsets before in all sports. Who could forget that loss to Syracuse as 35 point favorites in 2007? I am glad we're not playing USF. I would really be nervous. FSU better hope they're over their blues or they will lose two in a roll.
We've been a top 5 team for a little over 24 hours now. Give everyone a little time to catch up mentally. I was just listening to College Sports Nation on XM. Butch Davis called Marshall dangerous. So, it's not just the fan base. Cards are favored by 25+. Sure, on paper they should wipe the field with Marshall. I/we certainly hope so.
Okay, I'm going to relent a little here and say Marshall has a very good offense. Their QB throws a lot so there's always a chance of big pass plays. However, I'm not with you on Butch Davis or most football media pundits. These so called experts are impressed with Jackson but they still look at Louisville as "new money". They would never say Marshall is dangerous to Ohio State or Alabama and they shouldn't.
A lot of these people are still not convinced and are uncomfortable seeing Louisville sitting at #3. It is what it is. Don't be surprised when FSU is suddenly a overrated team.
For me, it's all about Bobby Petrino. He will not let the guys overlook Marshall. He will put other guys in the game who are working their ass off to see the field.
it is not just butch davis, it is college football saying it, THAT IS WHY WE CAN NOT OVER LOOK THEM IN ANY WAY.
