Two things jump out: Kianna Smith doesn't even get Honorable Mention and Jeff Walz is not in the top three for coach of the year. NC State's Wes Moore is COY for second straight year. And Notre Dame coach Iver is third in voting behind VPI coach. Moore returned his whole team and that team was the overwhelming pick to win the conference. While Walz had to replace last year's POY and mold together a team with several transfers.

Good points. NC St coach had the easiest job of all the coaches. Very surprising about Kiana as well

I do not think these ACC awards have any real significance beyond the POY; that is generally well-earned and seldom controversial. I still believe we are quite fortunate to be a member of the ACC, and the way to gain the respect of your peers is to beat them. We lost at NCST, and at UNC ............ if we win both, Jeff would have been COY.

If we take care of business this weekend, we should have a good chance of seeing the Wolfpack again, and we can give Jeff something far more valuable that COY.

I like being in the ACC as well and we have a chance to make a statement about the awards in the tournament if we take care of business.

Allow me to add this about our ACC affiliation; would any one expect that we would be treated any better in the Big 10, or the SEC by its conference membership or their respective media?

The last time UL was treated with anything resembling equal respect by fellow conference members and their media, was during those years when we were associated with UC and Memphis.

I trust everyone would agree that we do not want to go back to that affiliation.

You know all fans want their teams players to be recognized, especially when it's warranted. Of course awards are not the goal or mean a whole lot, but they can reflect perceptions of a bias if one exists.

And with the ACC and UofL it's very clear there's a tendency to discard the Cards for the longer serving ACC schools. That has been hard to do in women's hoops as the MVP domination by the Cards has shown.

Louisville has dominated ACC play since joining the ACC in women's hoops and baseball. Whenever there's a opportunity to pick over a Cards player, the ACC will do it. It's no surprise.
