LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville football team placed five Cardinals to the 2019 Football All-ACC Academic Team, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Thursday.

All 14 ACC Football member institutions were represented on the team. Duke led all schools with 11 selections, followed by Virginia (10), Clemson (8), Boston College (6), Syracuse (6), Virginia Tech (6), Louisville (5), Pitt (5), Wake Forest (5), Georgia Tech (3), NC State (3), Miami (2), North Carolina (2) and Florida State (1).

Wide receiver Seth Dawkins and punter Mason King were honored for the third time, offensive lineman Robbie Bell and linebacker C.J. Avery are two-time honorees, and safety Khane Pass was selected for the first time.

Dawkins, a sports administration major, was one of the Cardinals' top receivers, catching 16 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns. He closed his career with 94 receptions for 1,510 yards and nine touchdowns. His best season came in 2017 when the Columbus, Ohio, native caught 42 passes for 642 yards and four touchdowns.

A communications major, King averaged 42.6 yards a punt this season, placing 17 punts inside the 20-yard line and 11 of over 50 or more yards. The Louisville native holds the school record for career punting average at 42.5 yards and is third all-time in punting yards.

Bell, a political science major, played last season as a graduate. After playing two games in 2018, Bell started all 13 games at right guard as the Cardinals averaged 212.8 yards on the ground and 33.1 points per game.

Finishing as the team's leading tackler, Avery posted a career best 93 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. He recorded 13 tackles in a win over nationally ranked Wake Forest on the road and posted nine stops in league games versus Florida State and Syracuse.

Pass, a three-year starter, graduated in the winter with a degree in criminal justice. He closed the 2019 season with a personal best 80 tackles and four tackles for loss. The native of Columbus, Ga., returned a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown in Louisville's come-from-behind win over Mississippi State in the Music City Bowl.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
